Mura/Doom Invocations And Narcotic Rituals/Caligari Records/2021 EP Review

 

  Mura  are  a  band  from  the  Czech  republic  that  plays  a  cavernous  mixture  of  black,  doom  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2021  ep  "Doom  Invocations  And  Narcotic  Rituals"  which  will  be  released  in  March  by  Caligari  Records.

  A  very  dark  yet  distorted  sound  starts  off  the  ep  before  going  into  a  heavier  doom  metal  direction.  Both  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  while  dark  sounding  melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  along  with  the  vocals  being  mostyl  cavernous  death  metal  growls.

  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  while  black  metal  screams  can  also  be  heard  at  times.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  blast  eats  can  also  be  heard  along  with  the  vocals  also  having  their  bestial  moments  and  the  songs  also  add  in  a  good  amount  of  90's  influences  but  keeps  it  modern  at  the  same  time  and  throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.

  Mura plays  a  musical  style that  takes  black,  doom  and  death  metal  and  mixes  them  together  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  cover  occultism,  darkness  and  death  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Mura  are  a  very  great  sounding  cavernous  mixture  of  black,  doom  and  death  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Chambers  of  Decay".  8  out  of  10.

Nekkrofukk/Mysterious Rituals In The Abyss Of Sabbath & Eternal Celebration Of The Blakk Goat/Putrid Cult/2021 CD Review

 

  Nekkrofukk  are  a  band  from  Poland  that  has  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  mixture  of  black,  doom  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2021  album  "Mysterious  Rituals  In  The  Abyss  Of  Sabbath  &  Eternal  Celebration  Of  The  Blakk  Goat"  which  will  be  released  on  March  30th  by  Putrid  Cult.

  A  very  dark  and  ritualistic  sounding  intro  starts  off  the  album  along  with  a  brief  use  of  spoken  word  parts  and  chants  while  also  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  organs  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction.  Elements  of  doom  metal  can  also be  heard  in  the  slower  sections  of  the  songs  and  the  vocals  are  a  mixture  of  death  metal  growls  and  black  metal  screams.

  Some  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.  The  music  also  adds  in  a  great  amount  of  90's  influences  but  also  keeps  it  modern  at  the  same  time  along  with  some  evil  sounding  melodies  also  being  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing,  ritualistic  sounds  also  make  a  return  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording  and  all  of  the  music  also  sticks  to  a  slower  direction.

  On  this  recording  Nekkrofuck  remains  true  to  the  mixture  of  black,  doom  and  death  metal  that  they  had  established  on  their  previous  release.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  a  mixture  of  English  and  Polish  and  cover  Satanism,  Occultism  and  Left  Hand  Path  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Nekkrofukk  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  black,  doom  and  death  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Summoning  Of  Azrael"  and  "Spiewajac  Psalmy  Smierci".  8  out  of  10.

SpellForger/Upholders Of Evil/Personal Records/2021 EP Review

 

  SpellForger  are  a  band  from  Indonesia  that  plays  a  mixture  of  black,  thrash  and  speed  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2021  ep  "Upholders  Of  Evil"  which  will  be  released  in  April  by  Personal  Records.

  A  very  dark  and  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  ep  along  with  a  brief  use  of  spoken  word  samples  while  the  music  also  brings  in  a  great  amount  of  80's  era  thrash  speed  and  first  wave  black  metal  elements  but  mixed  in  with  a  more  modern  aggression  and  blast  beats  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  faster  parts  of  the  songs.

  Vocals  are  mostly aggressive  screams  and  shouts  while  the  riffs  also  add  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody  while  the  solos  and  leads  also  remain  true  to  an  old  school  extreme  metal  style  as  well  as  adding  in  some  melodies.  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  some  back  up  shouts  also  being  utilized  at  times  and  the  whole  recording  sticks  to  a  heavier  direction.

  SpellForger  plays  a  musical  style  that  takes  black,  thrash  and  speed  metal  and  mixes  them  together  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  evilness,  sorcery  and  metal  themes.

  In  my  opinion  SpellForger  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  black,  thrash  and  speed  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Lord  Of  Possession"  and  "Black  Spellcrafters".  8  out  of  10.
