Eternal Drak/Drak Metal/2021 Full Length Review

Eternal  Drak  are  a  band  from  Quebec,  Canada  that  plays  a  blackened  mixture  of  thrash  and  heavy  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2021  album  "Drak  Metal".

Heavy  yet  melodic  riffing  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  a  few  seconds  later  while  the  music  also  mixes  in  elements  of  80's  metal.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  the  solos  and  leads  also  remaining  true  to  an  old  school  style  and  also  adds  in  a  good  amount  of  melody.

The  heavier  side  of  the  riffing  also  shows  some  influences  of  thrash  metal  while  one  song  also  adds  in a   brief  use  of  war  samples.  Keyboards  and  acoustic  guitars  can  also  be  heard  on  a  couple  of  tracks  along  with  one  track  also  introducing  spoken  word  parts  onto  the  album  as  well  as  some  songs  also  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  clear  vocals.

Clean  playing  can  also  be  heard  briefly  and  when  the  music  finally  speeds  up  a  small  amount  of  blast  beats  are  also  utilized  along  with  some  Spanish  guitars  also  being  added  into  the  music  briefly  as  the  album  progresses,  the  recording  also  closes  with  a  cover  of  Venom's  "In  League  With  Satan".  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  a  mixture  of  English  and  Spanish  and  cover  Feelings  and  Life  Issues.

In  my  opinion  Eternal  Drak  are  a  very  great  sounding  blackened  mixture  of  thrash  and  heavy  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Dark  Metal"  "Your  Debt"  "My  Bloody  Moon"  and  "In  League  With  Satan".  8  out  of  10.

Crucifixion BR Interview

1.Can you give us an update on what has been going on with the band since the recording and release of the new album?

Maxx: When we decided to record "Human Decay", it was just before the pandemic, when we immediately decided to return to the Hurricane studio in Porto Alegre to record the album. I decided to bet again on the production of Sebastian Carsin, believing in a good result as it was on the first album, and that in fact happened. In January 2020 we recorded the album in a week and a half, it was a great challenge musically, and with focus and determination we managed to do a great job. A Few Lies Of Your Whole Light" and "My Savior", and with these and other videos we participated in the main online festivals in Brazil. We postponed the release of the album to October 31, 2021 due to the pandemic, and soon after it was released, there have been great reviews, and great repercussions among the public, including new fans.

2.Recently you have released a new album, musically how does it differ from the stuff you have released in the past?

Maxx: Crucifixion has always been a true band in everything they've done, always caring about their strong, unique, extreme and blasphemous identity. And the first works that we recorded up to the first full-length reflect what I felt and heard at the time. Comparing to the new work, I follow this philosophy, resulting in the current evolution where I continue with the same feeling but including new elements of death metal and blackened death metal, which stand out in this album. It wasn't premeditated at all, it was a natural evolution where black metal is still found on the new album.

3.This is also your first full length since 2014, can you tell us a little bit more about what has been going on during that time frame?

Maxx: We toured Brazil, then we toured Europe in 2015, then we continued to do shows in Brazil, and meanwhile we moved from Porto Alegre to São Paulo, got a new bass player (Beto Factus) and started writing songs for the new album, and saving money to start the recordings. It was a little slow process as we are an independent band.

4.A lot of your lyrics cover Anti Christianity and Anti Catholic themes, can you tell us a little bit more about yuor hatred for these religions?

Maxx: Christianity is pure hypocrisy. People pretend to do good by going to church, but they are false in their ideologies. These are people who affirm a philosophy of goodness and act in a contradictory way.

5.What are some of the other lyrical topics and subjects the band has explored over the years with their music?

Maxx: More personal matters, about having your inner strength, and focusing on yourself, on your own energy, on your life, going after your goals.

6.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the new album cover?

Maxx: Made by Rômulo Dias, it represents the decay of society over the years, with the goddess Hel representing both something pagan and the people who contributed to gradually destroy the world, both spiritually and physically. It is as if there is a revolt on the planet towards its ungrateful inhabitants.

7.What are some of the best shows that the band has played over the years and also how would you describe your stage performance?

Maxx: The best shows were opening for Dark Funeral, Gama Bomb, opening for Krisiun, and some of the shows we did in Europe were awesome! Our performance is energetic and intense, we urge the audience to interact with us in our brutal atmosphere.

8.You also have a few guests on the new album, can you tell us a little bit more about who they are and also their contributions to the recording?

Maxx: We had André Rod, vocalist and bassist of the Brazilian Thrash Metal band Attomica doing backing vocals on the song "Human Decay", and Dave Ingram from Benediction (ex-Bolt Thrower) sharing vocals on "Bloody Fire Victory", which was a great honor.

9.The album was released through both 'Die Hard' and 'Shinigami Records', can you tell us a little bit more about these record labels?

Max: In fact the album was released by Shinigami Records only, 'Die Hard' is just one of the stores in São Paulo that distribute the CDs released by Shinigami Recs. Shinigami also released the first album "Destroying The Fucking Disciples Of Christ" in Brazil in 2015, after we released an American version in 2014 by HPGD Recs in the US. Shinigami Recs. is a good partner here in Brazil. This time we decided to launch here and export the Brazilian CD to the world through bandcamp.

10.On a wordlwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of black and death metal?

Maxx: We are increasingly gaining new fans who didn't know about our work before this second album. And the reaction of those who already knew us is excellent, they reacted very well to our musical evolution.

11.Are any of the band members currently involved with any other bands or musical projects these days?

Maxx: Bassist Beto Factus also plays in the band "Nephall", and lead guitarist Rafael Orsi has his side project called "Anger". Drummer Juliana Novo has already done other projects as vocalist ("Dremora" from USA, "Lamented Despondency" from Slovakia and "Noctis Notus" from Brazil). As for me, Maxx Guterres, I took part in Noctis Notus and other bands as a drummer, but all those projects have ended their activities.

12.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

Maxx: I see the same band musically speaking, with some technical evolution but following the same style that is Blackened Death Metal.

13.What are you listening to nowadays?

Maxx: Hard Rock, Death Metal and some Black Metal.

14.How would you describe your views on Occultism?

Maxx: I've found it more interesting in the past, but nowadays I give it less value, it's no longer part of my philosophy of life.

15.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

Maxx: I would like to thank all the people who have enjoyed our sound so far, and I hope that this new album is released and heard in the widest possible audience both in Brazil and around the world.

Et Moriemur/Tamashii No Yama/Transcending Obscurity Records/2022 CD Review

Et  Moriemur  are  a  band  from  Italy  that  has  had  music  reviewed  before in  this  zine  and  on  this  recording  plays  a  very  atmospheric  sounding  mixture  of  black,  doom  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  album  "Tamashi  No  Yama"  which  will  be  released  in  2022  by  Transcending  Obscurity  Records.

Movie  samples  start  off  the  album  along  with  some  tragic  sounding  pianos  a  few  seconds  later  while  classical  guitars,  harps  and  stringed  instruments  can  also  be  heard  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording. Elements  of  doom  metal  can  also  be  heard  in  the  slower  sections  of  the  songs  and  the  riffs  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  melody.

Vocals  are  mostly  black  metal  screams  while  death  metal  growls  can  also  be  heard  at  times  along  with  the  recording  also  having  its  atmospheric  moments.  The  songs  also  mix  in  a  decent  amount  of  90's  influences  along  with  the  solos  and  leads  also  being  done  in  a  very  melodic  style.

One  song  also  adding  in  a  brief  use  of  spoken  word  parts  and  at  times  the  music  also  shows  touches  of  Japanese  folk  music ,  as  the  album  progresses  a  brief  use  of  clean  vocals  can  also  be  heard  on  a  couple  of  songs.  One  track  also  adds  a  brief  use  of  fast  playing  and  blast  beats  and  the  closing  song  is  very  long  and  epic  in  length.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  Japanese  Folklore.

In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Et  Moriemur  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  atmospheric  black,  doom  and  death  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Haneda"  "Izu"  and  "Takamagahara".  8 out  of  10.

GoreSkinCoffin Interview

1.Can you give us an update on what has been going on with the band since the recording of the new album?

We are constantly writing. We pre-recorded several tracks ourselves and reworked material before we actually ended up recording the album. "Release My Suffering" was originally 10 tracks and we ended up keeping 7 to complete this album and chose to keep the other 3 for reworking on a later release.

2.In January you have a new album coming out, musically how does it differ from the stuff you have released in the past?

Well, we had some members come in and out of the band before we recorded this recent album; it has definitely effected the sound in a very positive way. This album, we found our sound on and in the future we will further it, it differs from the past because all of the members roles are very apparent and fulfilled.

3.From 2011 to 2017 there was no music being released, can you tell us a little bit more about what has been going on during that time frame?

During 2011 though 2017 a lot of material was being generated. We had a ton of live shows, where we were kind of perfecting the craft if you will. That's what we see ourselves as, live musicians. We played many great shows in different venues and any old dive we could book. We have taken big steps forward in achieving our sound this time around.

4.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the newer release and also how would you describe your progress as songwriters over the years?

Man's arrogance towards each other and our surroundings, self-resentment, depression, and suicide are some of the REAL topics we write about, but there is a small element of fantasy in there to keep our own imaginations going. As far as progress, I think a phrase by the late Chuck from Death went, "you can do Horror and Gore but life is way more BRUTAL and everybody has to live it, everyone does it!" Something about writing about real shit people go through has more substance.

5.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'GoreSkinCoffin'?

There is no hidden meaning behind the name GoreSkinCoffin, the inspiration actually comes from a former NFL player "Frank Gore" and a song from Australian band Psycroptic "Skin Coffin".

6.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the new album cover?

We commissioned 3 original pieces from artist Chadwick St. John. He asked for a mood or feeling and we essentially gave him the album title. 2020 and 2021 were brutal years for the band as people, (it was for everyone) with death, isolation, and misery. Chadwick took this and turned it into the conceptual story of the Stone Angel. A Stone Angel comes alive in an ancient cemetery located at the edge of a cliff in the future, it walks out towards a tree whose limbs extend out towards the moon into despair, then it is lifted into the clouds by a burst of light. The album art depicts the main concept, while the back and cover will display the rest.

7.What are some of the best shows that the band has played over the years and also how would you describe your stage performance?

We have played many times in our greater area at different venues. Some of the more memorable acts we played with were bands like Pathology, or our good friends in Embryonic Devourment. We are a live band for sure and we thrive on an audience. Even if you are not a metal head, I have had folks come up to me after shows and say "I'm not into metal, but tonight this was my shit!" So we know we are doing something right!

8.The new album is going to be released on 'Funeral Goat Records', can you tell us a little bit more about this label?

Funeral Goat is primary representation for previous and current members of GoreSkinCoffin. If the right label came along we would be interested, but right now we are content just being.

9.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of black, death metal and grindcore?

We are very welcomed by genres like Grind and Death metal. Black metal as anyone knows is an elite art form, though our roots started in the genre and still have veins of it, we have tried to further ourselves and widen our pallet as a band.

10.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

Right where we are is where we want to be. We learned a lot this time around and will be quick to apply it the next time we are in a studio setting. I think there is talk of a music video in the making too.

11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

Black and Death metal-classic and modern and Grind. I think we are even going to cover like a G-6!? Who knows! We all over the place, talks of a cover go on FOREVER. Our main roots are very well connected, bands like, Cattle Decapitation, Archspire, Opeth, Emperor, Alcest, old Cryptopsy and Suffocation. We really enjoy music from so many different genres, rather than just metal, and it's good to have some variety.

12.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

We appreciate the opportunity and support, and wanted to bring up mental health awareness to the metal community. Everyone has horrible days, and the world has been especially isolating and dark in recent times. Metal and the folks involved are a special community that supports each other. There is a network there if the family support isn't!

Atlantean Sorrow/2020/Sinistrari Records/2021 CD Review

Atlantean  Sorrow  are  a  solo  project  from  Lima,  Ohio  that  plays  a  very  progressive,  atmospheric  and  sci-fi  themed  mixture  of  black,  death  and  thrash  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2021  album  "2020"  which  was  released  by  Sinistrari  Records.

Sci-fi  samples  and  spoken  word  parts  start  off  the  album  as  well  as  returning  on  the  later  songs  before  going  into  more  of  a  heavier  and  atmospheric  musical  direction.  Synths  are  also  a  very  huge  part  of  the  recording  while  the  music  also  gets  very  progressive  sounding  at  times  and  a  lot  of  the  music  is  heavily  rooted  in  the  90's  era.

All  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats  can  be  heard  along  with  the  riffs  also  adding  in  a  lot  of  melody  as  well  as  the  music  also  adding  in  elements  of  black,  death  and  thrash  metal,  most  of  the  songs  stick  and  an  instrumental  style  and  throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.

Atlantean  Sorrow  plays  a  musical  style  that takes  90's  era  atmospheric  black  metal  and  mixes  it  with  death,  thrash  and  progressive  metal  as  well  as  mixing  in  sci-fi  orientated  synths  to  create  a  sound  of  his  own  while  the  production  also  sounds  very  professional.

In  my  opinion  Atlantean  Sorrow  are  a  very  great  sounding  atmospheric,  progressive  and  sci-fi  themed  mixture  of  black,  death  and  thrash  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  solo  project.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Trest  Pilot"  and  "Project  Cyborg".  8  out  of  10.

Gomarran Interview

1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?

Gomorran plays death metal that draws influence e.g. from black metal. It is a fairly young project that has had its baby steps through our latest release Excerpts from the Dark Age.  -Joonatan

The band got its start in the autumn of 2019 by me and Joonatan Wiitasalo. We wanted to create some dark and brutal sounding metal where we also could challenge and express our musicianship. Perttu was already a long time friend to us and he had interest in joining the band. Panu found us online. We recorded some music and now we are here. -Olli

It's a four man powerhouse that makes darkness enjoyable. -Perttu

2.Recently you have released an EP, can you tell us a little bit more about the musical style that you went for on the recording?

For Excerpts of the Dark Age  we wanted a cruel tone to best suit the dark themes of the songs. We wanted the atmosphere to feel really gloomy. I think we never really discussed our genre until we started planning the release. It was more about playing a musical style that everyone intuitively enjoyed. -Perttu

Our goal is to make death metal that looks and sounds like us, we strive to have the best parts of death metal entwined with haunting melodies and anthemic and big sounding passages that in the end makes us sound like Gomorran. We always try to keep the song melodic and interesting for the listener. Often the riffs that are fun to play also sound good too. It is all about getting those melodic hooks in and still retaining the sinister and gloomy atmosphere. That’s where the guitar/synth melodies play a big part.  -Joonatan

3.A lot of your lyrics cover the Roman Empire and the Middle Ages, can you tell us a little bit more about your interest in these topics?

Murky, grim and brutal old societies inspired us to write songs about the Roman Empire and the Middle Ages. Black Plague is a gruesome depiction of the pestilence inspired by the writings of Sienese Agnolo di Tura. Hopeless Endeavor is a song about the murder of Julius Caesar. Hail Caesar tells a desperate story of a Roman war general who prepares for a battle at dawn which he is sure he will lose. -Perttu

4.Lyrically you are also inspired by pagan literature, can you tell us a little bit more about your interest in the classic Pagan writings?

I’m very keen on Norse mythology and other beliefs that are mostly dead in our time of the world. Christians slaughtered their way into the north a thousand years ago, placed christianity on the throne and erased the world the people here lived in. Now we have only old artifacts and some literature to tell us about those times. And the fact that we know so little, gives a lot of room for epic romanticizing and imagination. That’s why we have TV shows like Vikings. I sometimes end up reading random stuff during the late hours of night. That happened and I read “Goetia: First Key of Solomon” at 2 o’clock at night. That’s where our song “Sermon” is based on. I wrote those lyrics. Then Perttu made my lyrics better with his tweaks. -Olli

5.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Gomorran'?

So, this again goes a bit to the direction of paganism. Gomorrah was a city in the Bible. The story tells about the cities Sodom and Gomorrah, which were so deeply sinful that the god decided to destroy them. I, on the other hand, don't think that they were that sinful. Those people were normal people who went their own ways and wanted to enjoy their lives. They were people like you and me. In this story they were murdered for wanting to be the kings and gods of their own lives and not to answer to any other deity. They were the victims. So in a way, Gomorran points to a citizen of Gomorrah and symbolizes a person who decides to live their own way. The name celebrates the existence and independence of a human. So there’s some symbolism behind the name, but as a band we vary in opinions and life attitudes so much that we really can’t push a common symbolic agenda. So all the possible deeper meanings in the band tend to be more subjective and personal. Some songs and visuals have deeper meaning for some and for others it’s just contributing to the mood of the music. To me this band is a sanctuary of self expression. -Olli

6.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the ep cover?

The artwork really doesn’t have any deeper symbolic meanings. It’s just a cool picture of one of the many statues of Caesar, which can be found in Italy. I’ve always been a graphical hobbyist and this was the result of one creative night. But it does connect to the themes of those two songs. And that was the inspiration to create something Caesar related art. With the same hobbyism I’ve created the logo’s, videos, shirts and other graphical themes for the band. As a teenager I used to have these imaginary bands to whom I created logos and themes for. I also used to do that with my actual bands like a melodic death metal act “Abyss”, which has been the best band besides Gomorran for me. Also my first. -Olli

7.What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and also how would you describe your stage performance?

Due to the pandemic we have so far only played one concert at the OUBS studio in Espoo Finland aside from live streaming. -Perttu

We hope to make you bob your head to our music. The joy we have playing in front of the audience shows and that feeling alone makes all this work we have done worthwhile. -Joonatan

At such an early stage of the band’s existence, the stage performance is a work in progress. I don’t mean this in a bad way, we’re constantly putting in the effort to get the most out of the live show. In a way, the stage performance will always be a work in progress as new material keeps being released and new themes introduced, the show must and will adapt. -Panu

We are trying to make the live shows a common experience where the energy is bounced back and forth with the audience. We want to engage the audience as much as possible and make them have the good time they came to have. -Olli

8.The ep was released on 'Inverse Records', how did you get in contact with this label?

I had some friends who had published through Inverse Records before. They told me that it’s a good label to try to get your music published through as a new band. I went on their website and sent them a promotional email with the music that we’d created. Joni from Inverse responded and said that he likes the shit out of the music. Of course it’s not a deal that we just get everything served on a golden plate. We must take care of the costs. But the way Inverse Records has handled the publishing and promotion has been way beyond our hopes and expectations. Of course the music must be good in order to get anyone to listen to it, but the music must get the chance to be heard. Inverse Records has provided our music the chance a thousandfold. But it has been a lot of work. All the promotional material you see, like videos, ads, social media content etc.. It is all done by us. Inverse makes it possible for you all to see it. It’s a punkish DIY mentality that lives in our band. We try to make the best with all that we have. -Olli

9.On a worldwide level, how has the reaction been to your music by fans of black and death metal?

Reaction to our EP has been amazing. Esaiah is currently the first track of Spotify’s most listened black metal list Black & Dark Metal. -Perttu

We have got fairly positive reviews. People seem to enjoy what we bring to the table! We have gotten praises for having a fresh take on blackened death metal for example. -Joonatan

More than I expected! Way more than I dared to dream for the first EP. We actually just had some new fan send us a video where he’d learned Hopeless Endeavor by ear on guitar. It feels absurd and at the same time humbling that something we do here in our casual lives can have that strong impact on someone that they enjoy spending time tinkering with our music. But yeah, the fans can expect more. We will keep exploring this very complex genre of blackened death metal. -Olli

Yeah, it’s been somewhat unreal to be honest. I knew the song material to be awesome from when I first heard the demos, but to read such positive reviews and feedback and have other people like it as well, one can only be grateful. My mom only liked the intro song Tavern, though. And so should yours. -Panu

10.When can we expect a full length and also where do you see yourself heading into as a musician during the future?

Earliest in a year but we will be dropping singles before that! As a musician my aim is to keep composing and writing exciting songs. -Perttu

We aim to release a full length record by the fall of 2022. We are right now in the midst of composing new material and I'm really stoked about that. We try to evolve ourselves and provide you listeners with some more refined and matured Gomorran for our next album. We have a feeling that it's gonna be great and we can't wait to publish the first single when the time comes. I myself have tried to think about what went right in the debut record (Excerpts from the Dark Age) that try to keep that in mind going forward.  I'm really proud of what we have been able to showcase on our first record and we will keep that momentum and energy in the following months to come. -Joonatan

11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

For me it would have to be Behemoth! Lately I’ve been listening to Gojira and Post Malone. -Perttu

I am a long time fan of At the Gates and I feel like you can hear that influence on some of our riffs for sure. Slaughter of the Soul has to this day some of the best riffs ever written. I also really enjoy listening to some old Mayhem records like De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas. I’m also a big fan of the indie rock band The Jezabels. Some other honorable mentions that have affected the composing process for sure are Brymir, Gojira, Behemoth, Nightwish etc. -Joonatan

Hopefully we don’t sound like some cheesy fanboys, but hell yes Behemoth. At the Gates has been very present in the band too. Opeth is my life long love. Personally I’m very inspired by this quite fresh Danish death metal band called Baest. I went to their show in 2019 in Helsinki where they were supporting Aborted. And was I fucking blown away!! I do not want to copycat them, but I do admire what they have achieved in such a short time. I do admire their mentality and working ethics. It’s a passion that shines. It’s something that I relate to and I want it too. They already are a very big band, but I would love to do a show with them one day.. I had such a nice bonding time after the show with their guitarist Lasse and drummer Sebastian. Also their music is out of this world. You hear a lot of classic death metal, but only few of them shine, and this band shines. Besides that I’m a fan of bands like The Jezabels and Kingston Wall, Pink Floyd.. musicians like Eydís Evensen, Claude Debussy, Erik Satie. They have a certain mood I cherish. -Olli

12.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

Thanks for all the support and stay tuned for more, gomorrans! -Perttu

Go listen to our album! A huge thanks for this interview and get ready for more. A new single might be on the way sooner than you think. -Joonatan

Noise Trail Immersion/Curia/I, Voidhanger Records/2021 Full Length Review

Italy's  Noise  Trail  Immersion  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  a  mixture  of  dissonant  black  metal,  post  metal  and  mathcore  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2021  album  "Curia"  which  was  released  by  I,  Voidhanger  Records.

Bells  start  off  the  album  while  acoustic  guitars  can  also  be  heard  briefly  while  a  couple  of  the  songs  are  also  instrumentals.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats  can  be  heard  while  the  riffs  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  dissonant  structure  and  the  vocals  are  done  in  a  very  angry  blackened  metal  style.

At  times  the  music  also  gets  very  technical  sounding  while  growls  can  also  be  heard  in  some  parts  of  the  recording.  Melodies  are  also  utilized  quite  a  bit  throughout  the  recording  along  with  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  some  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

Elements  of  mathcore  can  also  be  heard  in  the  mid  tempo  sections  of  the  songs  along  with  the  music  also  mixing  in  a  great  amount  of  post  metal  influences.  Acoustic  guitars  also  make  a  return  on  some  of  the  later  tracks  as  well  as  one  song  also  introducing  clear  vocals  onto  the  album,  synths  can  also  be  heard  in  certain  parts  of  the  recording.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Italian  and  cover  spirituality  and  nihilism  themes.

In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Noise  Trail  Immersion  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  dissonant  black  metal,  post  metal  and  mathcore,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Demiurgo  del  Non  Ritorno"  "Vanente"  and  "Coercizione".  8  out  of  10.

Rejekts Interview

1.Can you give us an update on what has been going on with the band since the recording and release of the new album?

Hi everyone. Our second album “Adamo” will be released soon on Carlo altobelli’s slaughter house record. So far we have published two songs and they seem to be appreciated. We are looking forward to play live soon.

2.Recently you have released a new album, musically how does it differ form the stuff you have released in the past?

with “Adamo” we really tried to bring together our inspirations from grindcore, black metal, hardcore, crust in a really powerfull and meaningfull way.

3.This is also your first release in 5 years, can you tell us a little bit more about what has been going on during that time frame?

We are slow, simple as that. We took our time to give to every song its own meaning.

And also... covid, have you ever heard of that?

4.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the newer release and also how would you describe your progress as songwriters over the years?

Discomfort, frustration, alienation, hatred, inability to communicate… you know, a classic. We describe those feelings that everyone experiences but nobody is willing to admit.

Everytime we choose a different point of view: “Uno-“ was about conscience, “Triratna” about the misery of  the human being, in “Adamo” we do that through mythology.

5.On one of your older releases you covered 'Oriental Philosophy', can you tell us a little bit more about your interest in this topic?

Triratna stands for “three jewels”: the enlighetened, the teachings and the community.

We took this idea to talk about the unity and division of man: the body, the mind, and the soul.

If we are interested in a concept, we follow its path to explore more themes in our lyrics.

6.You have also made a reference to Tiamat in one of your song titles, do you also have an interest in mythology?

We like mythology because, as religion does as well, exerts immediately a sacred atmosphere, even from the most dull matter, like... man.

Adamo is all about this, using the myth to talk about misery.

7.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Rejekts'?

Once upon a time… in 2006 we were young and stupid, we needed a name for a crust/grind band à la yacopsae. Someone proposed “rejects of society” like the crass song. Too long, what about “rejects”? too simple! Make it cooler with a K! There you have rejekts. Time has passed but the name is still there, so we are.

8.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the new album cover?

The artwork was designed by raffaele salzillo, we have been working together for a long time. The main themes are sacred/unsacred, human/divine, perfection/imperfection.

The figure shows both flesh and holyness, embodied on the same level.

9.What are some of the best shows that the band has played over the years and also how would you describe your stage performance?

We have been playing for quite a while, we have shared the show with a lot of band, some of them: Cripple Bastards, The Secret, Implore (Germany), STORM{O}, Dehuman (Belgium), Hierophant, Øjne, selvə, Hate & Merda, Discomostro (ex Skruigners), The Seeker.

Live performance is very importante for us and we are working on a more evocative way to stand on the stage: low light, no talking. Dark like our lyrics.

10.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of black metal, grindcore and crust?

We started from punk HC and crust scene, but we have always been too punk for blacksters and too blackster for punks… we have find our place in the blackeden hardcore wave like The Secret, Celeste, Hexis…

`11.Are any of the band members currently involved with any other bands or musical projects these days?

Bass player play salso in thrash/death metal band A.S.S. (Anal Slave of Satan), drummer in N.O.D. (Non oltre domani). Yes, we like acronyms.

12.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

Our roots are black metal, grindcore and crust, but we like to experiment a lot and open to new influences.

13.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

We listen to a lot of different genres and artist, everyone of us has its own taste in music. About our style i can say italina hc from the 80’ Nerorgasmo, Wretched, Negazione, Declino, Indigesti and classic balck and grind Napalm Death, Brutal Truth, Carcass, Terrorizer, Mayhem, Gorgoroth, Darkthrone. Talking about “blackened” The Secret, Celeste, Hexis, Implore, Calligram, Full Of Hell, This Gift is a Curse, O, Rorcal

14.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

Thank you very much for the interview, we hope you will enjoy our new album and we are looking forward to play it on tour and hopefully see you there. Ciao!
