Infest are a band from Serbia that has been featured before in this zine and plays a blackened form of death/thrash metal and this is a review of their 2014 album "Cold Blood War" which was released by Xtreem Music.
Sounds of war start off the album along with spoken word parts and after the intro the music goes into a very fast, heavy and brutal death/thrash sound along with blast beats and early death metal style growls that are also very close to thrash and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them.
When guitar solos and leads are added into the music, the album really starts to have a more dark and old school sound to it as well as the band adding more melody in their song structures and you can hear the black/death metal elements in the more brutal sounding sections of their music.
The music on the album has a very old school sound from beginning to end and goes back to the days when thrash was evolving into death metal as well as the band bringing in some of the early 90's Polish death metal sound to make their music sound a lot more heavier and in certain sections of the recording the vocals also start having a blackened tinge in t he high pitched screams.
Infest continue their blackened old school death/thrash metal sound with this album taking the best elements of mid 80's to early 90's underground metal and updating it for the modern day, the production sound s very powerful and the lyrics cover darkness, occult, violent, anti religion and war themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Infest and if you are a fan of blackened death/thrash metal, you should c heck out t his album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Destroyer Of Their Throne" "Among the Fallen ones" "Demonic Wrath" and "Terror Lord". 8 out of 10.
