This is a review of another recording from Filii Eliae where they continue the mixture of black, gothic and doom metal of the previous recording with the album being called "Cimiterivm" and self released in 2015.
A very dark and atmospheric synth sound starts off the album along with a variety of many different keys which also mixes in with the heavier guitars once they are added onto the recording and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and you can also hear quite a lot of melodic guitar leads throughout the recording.
Once vocals are added into the music they are high pitched and grim black metal screams while the guitars focus more on doom and the synths go for an atmospheric goth sound and on some of the later tracks a small amount of spoken word parts can be heard in certain sections of the recording while some songs see the band speeding up.
During the fast parts which are utilized rarely you can hear a small amount of blast beats and the music also has an early 90's black metal at times and on some of the tracks the synths start bringing in more of a horror movie atmosphere on an instrumental track while vocals make their return on the following songs while they do close the album with another instrumental track.
Filli Eliae creates another album that combines the black, gothic and doom metal genres of the 90's together but done with a more updated take, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in Italian and cover death, occultism and darkness.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Filii Eliae and if you are a fan of black, gothic and doom metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Cimiterivm" "Exeqviae" "Fvneralis" and "Extreme Pars". 8 out of 10.
