A.C.o.D are a band from France that has been featured before in this zine and plays a mixture of black, death and thrash metal with a musical style that they call 'blended metal' and this is a review of their self released 2015 album "The Maelstrom".
A very heavy death metal sound starts off the album along with the music speeding up a few seconds alter and also adding in growls and blast beats and the music also brings in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and you can also hear black metal screams being utilized in some parts of the songs.
At times the music can be very atmospheric and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and the riffs also bring melodies into the songs at times along with the solos also being very melodic in an old school metal direction and there are a lot of modern thrash elements present throughout the recording.
Some tracks also bring in a small amount of spoken word parts and as the album progresses groove metal screams can be heard briefly while a later track brings in a brief use of violins before returning back to a heavier musical direction and later on a brief use of clean singing and classical guitars can be heard.
A.C.o.D creates another recording that takes black, death and thrash metal and mixes them together along with a great amount of melody to create another very heavy yet talented sounding album, the production sounds very professional for being a self released recording while the lyrics cover dark and real life themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from A.C.o.D and if you are a fan of black, death and thrash metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Way Of Death" "Words Of War" "Cold" and "Crimson". 8 out of 10.
