Disterror are a band from Mexico that plays a mixture of black, heavy metal and d beat and this is a review of their 2015 album "Catharsis' which was rleeased on cassette by Caligari Records.
Ritualistic bells start off the album and after a few seconds the music starts getting very heavy along with some powerful sounding bass guitars, blast beats and high pitched screams that bring elements of black metal onto the recording and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
Elements of d beat can be heard throughout the recording with both the riffs and leads and there are also some growling vocals that also remain true to the same tradition and you can also hear some melodies being utilized in certain sections of the recording and some of the tracks are also very heavily influenced by both thrash and traditional metal and some songs also bring in a small amount of spoken word samples and as the album progresses a brief use of classical guitars can be heard before making a return back to a heavier musical direction.
Disterror plays a music style that is very heavily rooted in crust and d beat but also brings in a heavy dose of black metal and a touch of thrash and heavy metal to create a style of their own the production sounds very dark and heavy while the lyrics cover society, politics, doomsday, apocalypse, Anti Religion and Mythology themes.
In my opinion Disterror are a very great sounding mixture of black metal, crust and thrash and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Condemned To Survive" "Gilgamesh" and "Catharsis". 8 out of 10.
