Sanctus Infernum are a band from Kansas that plays a symphonic mixture of black, doom and death metal and this is a review of their 2014 album "Other Gods" which was released as a joint effort between "Satanath Records, Niberu Records and Thanatology Productions.
A heavy, melodic and symphonic sound starts off the album along with some death metal growls and black metal screams and after awhile solos and leads make their presence on the recording which also brings in elements of traditional metal and violins can also be heard in certain sections of the recording.
Some of the tracks are very long and epic in length and as the album progresses clean singing can be heard at times and the music is very heavily rooted in the early to 90's and some of the songs also bring in classical guitars and all of the songs stick to either a slow or mid paced direction.
Sanctus Infernum plays a musical style that is very close to the 90's style's of symphonic, black, doom and death metal and brings back a very retro and old school, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Lovecraft, fantasy and occultism themes.
In my opinion Sanctus Infernum are a very great sounding symphonic mixture of black, doom and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Opener Of The Way" "Nyarlathotep" and "Lord Of Fantasy". 8 out of 10.
