Blackevil are a band from Germany that plays a mixture of black and thrash metal and this is a review of their 2017 album "The Ceremonial Fire" which will be released in July by F.D.A Records.
Church fire sounds and ritualistic chants start off the album along with some synths in the background and after the intro the music goes into a heavier direction that mixes thrash and black metal together and you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording.
Vocals are mostly black metal screams that also have touches of the first wave of the genre as well as a melodic power metal edge and you can also hear melodies in the guitar riffing while the guitar leads are very melodic and add in touches of traditional metal and the music is heavily rooted in the 80's without sounding out of date.
Throughout the recording you can hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and acoustic guitars can also be heard briefly on a couple of tracks along with one song also adding in a few seconds of choirs and spoken word parts and the fast riffs also use a great amount of tremolo picking and the last track is very long and epic in length.
Blackevil plays a musical style that takes black, thrash and speed metal and mixes them together to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Satan, Purgatory, Blasphemy and Heavy Metal themes.
In my opinion Blackevil are a very great sounding mixture of black and thrash metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Between Fire And Fire" "Seven Bridges Seven Gates" "Black Magick Riders" and "Under The Black Sail Of The Burning Cross". 8 out of 10.
