Exterminator where a band from Brazil that played a very early mixture of black, death and thrash metal and this is a review of their 1987 album "Total extermination" which will be re-issued on vinyl in September by Greyhaze Records.
Powerful sounding bass guitars and drum b eats start off the album along with a mixture of death metal growls and black metal screams a few seconds later while the influence of thrash still has a very dominant presence throughout the recording and when the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can be heard.
Throughout the recording you can hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while the solos and leads bring in the raw South American style of the 80's along with some of the fast riffs also bringing in a decent amount of tremolo picking and one of the tracks is an instrumental along with the music always remaining very heavy.
Exterminator played a musical style that was rooted in the first wave style of black metal but also mixed in the more raw side of thrash and early death metal to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Anti-Christianity, Satanism, Gore, Death and Metal themes.
In my opinion Exterminator where a very great sounding mixture of black, death and thrash metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Nightmare" "Voyage To Hell" "Speed Metal" and "Haunting The Church". 8 out of 10.
