Witchnight are a band from Argentina that plays a mixture of black and speed metal and this is a review of their 2017 ep "Unholy Speed Metal" which was released by Witches Brew.
Distorted amp sounds start off the ep along with some melodic guitar leads a few seconds later before adding in drum beats and heavy riffs that are heavily rooted in the 80's which also leads to more of a speed and thrash metal direction while blast beats are also utilized at times.
Vocals are grim black metal screams that mix both the first and second wave styles together while all of the musical instruments sound very powerful along with the solos and leads bring in a very vintage old school extreme metal style and the riffs also bring in a decent amount of melody and the music always remains heavy, the ep closes with a cover of RetroSatan's "Plantificado La Muerte".
Witchnight plays a musical style that mixes first wave black metal with speed metal along with some second wave touches to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very old school while the lyrics cover Occultism, Death and Heavy metal Cult themes.
In my opinion Witchnight are a very great sounding mixture of black and speed metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Witch's Night" and "Slut Of Hell". 8 out of 10.
