Devilpriest are a band from Poland that plays a satanic form of blackened death metal and this is a review of their 2017 album "Devil Inspired Chants" which will be released in November by Pagan Records.
A very heavy sound starts off the album along with some dark sounding melodies while the vocals are a mixture of death metal growls and black metal screams and when the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can be heard as well as the music being very heavily rooted in the 90's.
When solos and leads are utilized they remain true to an old school style of death metal while the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the faster riffing also adding in a decent amount of tremolo picking and the music always remains very heavy as well as one track also adding in a brief use of spoken word parts and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them.
Devilpriest plays a musical style that goes back to the blackened death metal style of the 90's, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Satanism, Occultism and Blasphemous themes.
In my opinion Devilpriest are a very great sounding blackened death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE 'Withstand The Holy Ghost" "Sacred Orgy" "Awaken In The Presence Of Satan" and "Upon The Blasting Winds". 8 out of 10.
