Order Of The Nameless Ones Interview

1. For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?

Telepathic voices from beyond entered our souls sometime in 2014 and commanded us to carry out the will of the abhorrent nameless ones.

2. In December you have your first full length coming out, musically how does it differ from the demo you had released in 2014?

There has been one path chosen for us. One path the great ones destined us to travel. Our homage will never deviate.

3. This is your first release since 2014, can you tell us a little bit more about what has been going on during that time frame?

There are many forces of darkness that require our sonic ritualistic craft.

4. A lot of your lyrics are inspired by the writings of H.P Lovecraft, can you tell us a little bit more about your interest in this author and also do you have any interests in other authors of the similar vein? Your lyrics also touch on the occult, can you tell us a little bit more about your interest in the dark arts?

We were always fascinated by his work and those inspired by it and felt that there was some occult truth to some of it.It wasn’t until stumbling upon Volubilis Ex Chaoseum that was based on such idea that our ideas became more clear.

5. What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Order Of The Nameless Ones'?

The Nameless Ones are abhorrent ancient gods that possess such great evil that their names could not be said. Our Order was created to craft a sonic ritual as tribute to these gods thus summoning them from the nether to commence the ultimate full planetary sacrifice by thrusting the dagger through the entire planet and consuming the souls of all of its’ inhabitants.

6. Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the new album cover?

The artwork was done by Alex Shadrin of Nethertemple Design. He is also the vocalist of a superb band named Serpentrance. The direction was heavily inspired by the excellent Lovecraftian influenced film, The Void. We envision this as a similar scenario to when we awaken the Nameless Ones.

7. Very little is known about the band with no social network pages or even which part of the United States where the band resides, do you feel it is very important to keep a very low profile and let the music do the talking?

Who we are as individuals is of no use to the will of the Nameless Ones. Unless it is sent to us in a vision that social networking and the like could be useful in achieving our goal of apocalyptic planetary culling, I find no use to network with the weak masses or other inferior bands looking for a handout then in turn offer us nothing for our gain. Soon they will be sustenance for our masters.

8 .From what I have seen in photos of the band members you wear masks while playing, can you tell us a little bit more about what these masks mean?

The masks were also the will of the Nameless Ones. They represent what appeared to us in a vision. They represent a similar appearance to the Nameless Ones themselves. By adorning such hoods the Nameless Ones can speak subliminal messages during our performances.

9. On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of black and death metal?

Thus far the material has received 100% positive reviews. If only the listeners were aware of the danger of contained within.

10. Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

Order of the Nameless Ones will continue with our formulae as we see fit until the will of our masters have been realized.

11. Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

There is no escape. The will of the Nameless Ones shall be realized. All shall perish…

Holocausto Interview

Can you give us an update on what's going on with the band since recording and releasing the new demo and live album?

Ah! Yes! Our first live album Holocausto War Metal in Belo Horizonte, Live in Brazilian Ritual Fifth Attack was recorded on the night of 17/11/2017, with the current classic formation of the 80's band and counted on the participation of our countrymen sexual maniacs of Sex Trash, our brutal War Metal brothers of Goatpenis from Blumenau and the Canadian infernal desecrators of Blasphemy in one of the most extreme and violent shows of this planet, rescuing in Belo Horizonte its essence and tradition in the world heavy music in a night watered by sex, drugs and War Metal. This material has just been released by Brazilian Ritual Records. In September Black this year we recorded the Total War demo by Nuclear War Now! The recording was made in our essay on 1/11/18 and edited in K7. Still in September we entered the studio for the recording of our new full-lenght War Diary that will also be edited by NWN! There will be 9 songs of the purest War Metal. At this moment we are mixing and mastering the disc.

2. In your recent demonstration, what happened to some of the things that the band did differently with the recording that you could not do with your previous releases?
In this recording with the current classic formation of the original band from the 80s (Rodrigo Fuhrer - vocals, Valério Exterminator - guitars, Anderson Guerrilheiro – bass/vocals and Armando Nuclear Leprous Soldier - drums). The live demo-tape Guerra Total recorded as simply as possible with just a few microphones and capturing the essence of the band live in the studio. No edits, no plug-ins, no effects, no nothing. The crudest way to play and record, remembering the old home demos recorded in K7 in the eighties. I think that made the recording sound crude and rough. It is an extremely brutal material that will be appreciated by War Metal maniacs.
3.The band was broken up for 10 years, what was the cause of the split and also the decision to reform?
In fact the War Metal phase of the holocaust lasted only from 84 to 87.
The Holocausto of that time was the true War Metal!
Soon after the release tour of the album Campo de Extermínio in 87 Nuclear Soldier left the band. At that moment  Holocausto happened to be a War Metal trio with Rodrigo F. in the drums and vocals. We started to compose new material in the war metal line of Campo de Extermínio and Warfare Noise songs. We had 6 or 7 new brutal War Metal songs
but at that moment Exterminator left the band for reasons of intimacy. All other later works are not in the War Metal style
and should not be released under the name Holocausto,
but for contractual matters with the Cogumelo Records were edited in this way.
We live in a third world country with many social, political and economic problems and each one of us had to work hard to survive and support ours families in this chaotic country. The return came when COG began to reissue its entire catalog and during the digitization of this old material we found ourselves almost 20 years later.
4.The band reunited in 2004, released a new album in '05, but waited 11 years to release any new songs, can you tell us a bit more about what was going on in that period of time?

Yes, as stated earlier, we met at this time and decided to meet to play again. The initial idea was to reassemble with one of the classic early band formations but the two drummers were not available, so we reshaped a War trio with me on drums and voice again. At that time we recorded the album De Volta ao Front by Cogumelo Records, we were on the right track, with a good show and good songs but this time I left the band for personal reasons. During this period I dedicated myself to other musical projects and started playing drums on Black Metal Impurity of Belo Horizonte.

5. The most recent songs came back to the 80's, while some of the previous albums, before where more thrash and hardcore influenced, what was the decision behind returning to their older style?

As I said, in my opinion the true Holocaust is that of the late eighties with the formation (Rodrigo Fuhrer - vocals, Valério Exterminator - guitars, Anderson Guerrilheiro – bass/vocals and Armando Nuclear Leprous Soldier - drums) and so when we decided to go back the activities again the only concern was to sound exactly brutal like the War Metal of that era. This time we were able to repeat the formation that recorded the compilation Warfare Noise. This was very natural, so in the first test the smell of Napalm spread through the air, that atmosphere returned and the extreme times were back.

6. The band was part of the Brazilian extreme metal scene in the 80's, how would you compare the modern scene in Brazil with the scene 30 years ago?
30 years ago we were still living in a post dictatorship period in Brazil. There was a kind of curfew, and there were no people on the streets at night. We were crazy young men and we began to occupy our places in our city. We were carrying a lot of police. We were revolted against the system and we were squeezing brutally through our songs. Several people came together and formed a difficult link to be broken. Hard times, brutal times.
I'm not interested in the modern Brazilian metal scene.
7. His lyrics have always covered many war themes, which wars have most influenced his compositions?

Yes true! Almost all wars are themes of our songs but especially the second great world war influences us quite a lot because it involved almost all the pallets, guns, tanks, aircraft are stupendous war machines and the atomic era was also started when they were launched the nuclear bombs in Hiroshima and Nagazaki in Japan. Definitely World War II is my favorite subject.

8. What is the meaning and inspiration of the name 'Holocaust'?

Before we were nominated as a Holocaust, we adopted the name of Asmodeus, which is the name of a demon. Our first songs were about this song, for example the song Massacre of our first demo tape of 1985, re-recorded in the NWN War Metal Massacre EP in 2016. It says: Torn Bibles, Broken Crosses, Burned Churches, Massacre!

But of course I started composing war themes and everyone liked the idea. We still did not have a name and then Sepultura drummer Igor Skullcrusher gave the idea of the name Holocaust. From then on we became the most damn band in South America, always went and we will always be cursed. I like what it means: sacrifice and atonement. We will always be the outcasts.

9. What are some of the best shows the band has played over the years and also how would you describe their performance on stage?

I do not forget the first shows, they were brutal and the violence was taken to the extreme. The first show ended on the second song. There has been widespread pounding in others. I remember a concert in Belo Horizonte in 1987 with the formation (Rodrigo Fuhrer - vocals, Valério Exterminator - guitars, Anderson Guerrilheiro – bass/vocals and Armando Nuclear Leprous Soldier -drums) along with Sarcófago. It was fucked! Of this new phase this show with Blasphemy and Goatpenis also was brutal. The Holocaust is an overwhelming live band and I basically feel like a soldier in a trench in a war.

10. Do you have any tours or plans for the future?

Yes, in a near moment we are planning more shows, more discs such as the next being released in 2019 called Diário de Guerra (War Diary), possible tour in the United States in 2019 and Europe without an adjusted date.

11. On a worldwide level, how has been the reaction to your return by extreme metal fans?

The best possible! After our performance at the NWN Fest V in Berlin and the release of the EP War Metal Massacre the audience can be sure that the old Holocaust War Metal was back. We are sure for the public's comments about the last demo of 2018, that the release of the album Diário de Guerra with 9 unreleased songs in the war metal style of the 80's will be surprising to our audience.

12. What are some of the bands or musical styles that influenced your new song and also what are you listening to these days?

We always listen to the classics, but various styles also like rock, heavy, jazz, blues, etc. Today I hear Death Worship, Ildjarn, Bode Preto, Satanicristo and GGUW, we continue to listen to traditional Celtic Frost, Sodom, Venom, Slaughter, Voivod, SOD, Motorhead, Bathory, Ratos de Porão and Hardcore, among others.

13. Before we close this interview, do you have any words or final thoughts?

We are in war! The victory will be ours!

1. For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the musical project.

Jolyon : For now it is a one man Death Metal project (that would be me) from France called Baneful Storm. It's under the black wings of Invictus Productions. A first EP called Invocations has been recorded in 2017.

2. So far you have released one ep, can you tell us a little bit more about the musical style you went for on the recording?

Jolyon : Lots of guitar solos, devilish vocals, fast riffs and a contemplation on the occult. Production wise it's old school, I tried to get close to the Morrisound studio sound with the help of an uncle in his home studio. The main influences are early Morbid Angel, early Death, early Deicide and more generally early death metal.

3. Your music is very heavily rooted in the mid 80's and early 90's, do you prefer the ancient sound over the more modern era of black or death metal?

Jolyon : I do, It seems to me that those ancient albums had something unique to them, something magical and powerful. I think it is because at that time, bands and musicians were still experimenting and trying to push boundaries and were getting heavier, darker and more intricate than their predecessors. I guess that's why it was so bewitching and still sounds so appealing and cult today.
Nowadays I think a lot of metal bands and producers aren't creative enough and lack passion and drive. A lot of them sound robotic and lazy... I'm not a big fan of "modern" metal even though there are sometimes great bands that emerge like "Revocation".
Overall I like it the ancient way, production wise, musically wise and I like newer bands that are keeping the torch burning and are carving new paths of experimentation.

4. Your lyrics cover a lot of occult and blasphemous topics, can you tell us a little bit more about your interest in the dark arts?

I just think it fits the music so well. It's about strength, power and thinking for yourself, free from dogmas, religions, indoctrination, laws and believes of the masses. About being free from weakening standards, ancient and new. The message is to follow your own path, your truth as an individual. It has nothing against Christianity and other religions in particular even though I don't think they brought anything good to the world. I understand how they can help out and bring people together though. The blasphemes are  metaphorical, we have created so many communities and groups so we can take comfort in being part of something, have an identity through an already formed entity, secular or ecclesiastical. All these myths and given truths and laws and politics can also prevent us from experiencing our strengths and creativity, i think that blindly following and believing in them is an easy and dangerous path that often leads to self enslavement and spirit impoverishment.

5. What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Baneful Storm'?

I was looking for a name that conveys the violence of nature forces and something dark and occult. A synonymous to Baneful would be destructive or harmful.
Translated into French it sounds like "tempête funeste".

6. Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the ep cover?

It was made by an Indonesian artist named Maulana Yakub. It represents a deadly alchemical storm. The two columns are ancient Greek inspired. I like ancient cultures and their aesthetics and symbolism.

7. On the ep you recorded everything by yourself, are you open to working with other musicians or do you prefer to work solo?

I love to compose and put together songs and demos. For the next album, I'd like to focus on composing, recording the guitars and mixing the songs. It would be great to leave the other instruments to fellow musicians!

8. On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of black and death metal?

Lot of feedbacks and encouragement. It was great and unexpected!

9. When can we expect a full length and also where do you see yourself heading into as a musician in the future?

I'm already working on new songs, three of them are almost finished. I also need to find musicians to record and play live with.I can't tell you when but it will see the light of day. I want to continue to play guitar and compose songs, i also do music for movies, games, commercials so if this can continue as well, that would be great!

10. What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your  music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

Old metal albums like Abomination of desolation, altars of madness, deicide, scream bloody gore, show no mercy, hell awaits, kill'em all, black sabbath... Lately I have been listening to some ambiant music by Matt Huelmen, he's  composed the original soundtrack for the two first Diablo games and the expansion. Also listening to some Vulfpeck, a funk band with great grooves and more recently discovered a 80's band called Dead can Dance that mixed rock with Balkan choir, Indian rhythms and other traditional world music. I also listen to classical and baroque music from time to time, Bach, Mozart, Lully and others. There's also Carpenter Brut that comes to mind, it's really cool retro synthwave.

11. What are some of your non musical interests?

I try to keep healthy, eco responsible, trying to recycle stuff. Made a lamp out of plumbing tubes recently and I'm thinking of building a furniture out of pieces of an old wooden pallet.
I read novels and philosophy, recently some Dostoievsky, Lovecraft and Nietzsche. I like to watch sci fi and horror movies or series as well as japanese anime, recently watched a show called the Haunting of Hillhouse. I do sports at the gym and often ride my longboard on weekends , Beer brewing interests me a lot too.

12. Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

Thank you for it! Invocations Cd is out November 30th, you can pre-order it on the bandcamp page!

Evokador Interview

1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?

Allrite! Many thank for this interview!  Well, let´s start since the beginning. Some years ago like 2011 I have the idea to form a band. I tell it to a friend who already play the guitar to start. I have the weird or stupid idea that I can play drums because I play the air drums every time so I decide to play drums. We never do anything. Just a drunkish rehearsal.

So the years passed on and on and the idea to form a band increase in my mind. Then I decide to put it Ofenssor as the band name. I only need to find musicians..   First I put in my Facebook page that I need a guitarrist and a drummer. Never happened.

Then I decide to put some ugly hand made flyers in the walls of the college that I attend, asking again for a guitarrist and a drummer. The next day some cunt remove those flyers. Haha!

Some day I was in a poor record store buying the first Angeles del infierno Lp.  I meet a bizarre guy there that told me he´s in a band but no vocalist on it. I decide to enter in an “audition”. Then we start, the band was called Cloven. So I call a friend of mine to play the drums, he doens´t like the name Cloven or Offensor , till some day in a metal trance this name Evokador comes to my mind. So Evokador was born in February 2015.

Our discography consist in two rehearsal demos, and two Eps.

Our actual line up is:

R. Ofensor – Preacher of doom
Witch Bitch – Bass
DD Franco -  Drums

2.In February you had released a new album, what are some of the things you feel done different musically on this recording that you where not able to do on your previous releases?

Well in this new Ep called “Evokador” we change many things on the recordings. We record it with better equipment, better drumkit, better amplifiers, and we rehearse almost like a year before record it. In Vomito de la tierra recordings, we were drunk all the time, but this time we were sober, except for the voice recording because I drank a lot.  So that´s help us to not make so many mistakes. Most of the songs on this one was written  in 2015, just 2 news songs “Camino al Infierno “ and “Hecatombe”.  Musically? mhmmm I think we are on the same way. Technically (?) well, we can play better our instruments I guess, we have more practice, more improvement. Also the production in this one is better.

3.According to the fb page you label your music as 'Sulphuric Metallian Invasion', can you tell us a little bit more about this term?

The lyrics are mostly tales created in my mind, so let´s say the music is a “soundtrack”. We raise Sulphur, chaos and desesperation with our music. Metallian because we are Metalheads, we live and we will die for this sound (at least me). And Invasion well, I think I was thinking in Destruction when I wrote that hehehe.

4.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the music?

Death, Horror, Chaos, Heavy Metal, Ocultism, Ancient ones, Horny bitches, atomic nuclear desolation and the end of the world. Just to mention some.

5.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Evokador'?

Well Evokador is an obscure entity that brings a black evil force from the past. It comes from the word Evoke.  In this case we bring the putrid sound that was forged in old days of glory, not cloning, but inspiring us in body and soul.

6.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the album cover?

Well this artwork was painted by a local artist called Mario López. It’s a big demon waiting to his servants to sacrifice this blonde maiden that offers her body and soul voluntarily, to serve a greatest force. I love artwork flyers of 70´s, 80´s, horror movies. So aesthetically I asked to the painter to put those elements on it.

7.What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and also how would you describe your stage performance?

We opened to Deathhammer April this year, it was an incredible experience because I worship that band so many years ago, and we have very good sound , lights, etc. Then we party together and let me tell you that those guys are totally insane!

We played with Manzer one week ago, killer stage, killer sound, very very good.

I, as the vocalist try to raise some hell to the audiende, headbanging like a madman , cursing, and singing. We as a band try to do the same basically, we want the audience enjoy our perfomance, even those that “hate us”.

8.Do you have any touring or show plans for the future?

Well, not gigs at the moment, only time will tell.
We will release a 4 way split tape with mighty Abigail, a salvadorean band called Graveyard Rebelss and Kriegg.

Now we are in the writing song process for a  7” Ep next year. New and exclusive songs just for this release.
Some of the songs will be:

- El rapto de los santos
- Opositor
- Sacrificio del martillo.

Expect madness, Sulphur and Metal.

9.The new album was released on 'Barbarian Wrath', how did you get in contact with this label?

I had Hart Blackgoat added as a friend on my fb profile. So once he wrotes that he´s in hunting for bands with the right sound and attitude. So I show him Evokador and likes immediately! At that time we only had the Vomito de la tierra Ep, so I told him that we will enter to the studio soon to record this new Ep. He agreed to release us a cd with both Eps.

Then many things happen man, we took so much time to enter the studio, then Hart suffers a stroke, and enters to a coma. He only saw the sketch of the artwork. Then his wife Cheryl (Witches Brew) help us to make this cd happened and she did and incredible work! But its sad that Hart never heard this new one. But i´m sure that he would liked it and be proud of this release!

10.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of black and thrash metal?

More than I expected. Many people have written me saying that they enjoy our music, they show me pictures of the tapes we have released. They buy our music which is good.  People from Japan, South america, Australia, Germany , France and many other countries. Dedicated headbangers.
But you know what is the coolest felling? It´s when an artist of a band you worship wrotes to you and tell that he like our sound hehe.

11.Are any of the band members currently involved with any other bands or musical projects these days?

Mmm not at the moment.

12.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

The same black speed thrashing overdose but maybe because improvement our sound will change, maybe more tempo changes or longer songs. I don´t really know, it´s a hard question to ask hehe.

13.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

In the beginning I wanted to create a band with a chaotic sound, like the Deathcore Minas Gerais 80´s scene, or 80´s Death Metal like Obscurity, Bloodspill, Profancer, etc . But i´m just the singer you know.
The drummer and guitarrist have more or less the same tastes, but we don’t think the same, so Evokador is a blend of our influences.

To be specific, German and Brazilian Black/Death/Thrash metal mainly inspire our sound.

Rite now im listening the incredible debut by Black viper, Spiritus mortis, Spirit Adrift, new Aura noir (Great organic drums!)
, New Deathhammer´s chained to hell, new Bonehunter, The beyond Ost, and this is what I can remember now!

14.Does Satanism or Occultism play any role in your music?

Of course, these topics  influence my lyrics.

15.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

Locus Titanic Funus/Never Pretend/Another Side Records/2018 CD Review

Locus  Titanic  Funus  are  a  band  from  Russia  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  mixture  of  black,  goth  and  doom  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2018  album  "Never  Pretend"  which  was  released  by  Another  Side  Records.

Stringed  instruments  start  off  the  album  before  adding  in  some  heavy  riffs  and  goth  style  synths  while  the  slower  riffing  is  very  heavily  rooted  in  doom  metal  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  as  well  as  the  solos  and  leads  being  done  in  a  very  melodic  style.

A  great  portion  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  while  spoken  word  parts  are  also  utilized  at  times  along  with  the  vocals  also  adding  in  a  great  amount  of  death  metal  growls  and  black  metal  screams  as  well  as  some  blast  beats  also  being  utilized  when  the  music  goes  into  a  faster  direction,  one  track  also  introduces  acoustic  guitars,  whispers, clean  male  and  female  vocals  onto  the  recording  and  as  the  album  progresses  they  also  bring  in  an  instrumental.

Locus  Titanic  Funus  creates  another  recording  that  remains  true  to  their  mixture  of  black,  goth  and  doom  metal,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  solitude  and  melancholy  themes.

In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Locus  Titanic  Funus  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  black,  goth  and  doom  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Sweet  Enbrace  of  Cowardice"  "You  Are  my  Despair"  and  "The  Flowertale".  8  out  of  10.
