Suffering Hour are a band from Minnesota with members from both Minnesota and Colorado that play a blackened form of death metal and this is a review of their 2019 ep "Dwell" which will be released on April 9th by Blood Harvest Records.
Distorted yet melodic guitar leads start off the ep while the only track that is presented on the recording is over 18 minutes in length. All of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them while the riffs and leads also add in dissonant structures at times.
When the music speeds up a great amount of brutal blast beats can also be heard while the vocals are mostly deep yet guttural death metal growls. The music also mixes in a great amount of black metal melodies along with the riffs also adding in dark sounding melodies at times.
Screams can also be heard in certain sections of the recording while the song also brings in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the solos and leads also displaying a great amount of talent and skill as well as the riffs also adding in a decent amount of melody. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover life and death, loss of time and sadness themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Suffering Hour and if you are a fan of blackened death metal, you should check out this ep. 8 out of 10.
