Gravefields are a band from Ireland that plays a blackened form of death metal with some experimental, grind and hardcore elements and this is a review of their 2019 album "Embrace the Void" which will be released in June by Redefining Darkness Records.
Horror movie orientated synths start off the album along with some melodic guitar leads and heavy riffing a few seconds later while black metal screams can also be heard in some parts of the music and the faster sections of the songs also add in a great amount of brutal blast beats.
Death metal growls can also be heard quite a bit throughout the recording while the faster sections also capture the speed and brutality of grindcore along with the songs also adding in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them.
The songs also bring in a good mixture of both modern and old school death metal elements while the vocals also add in shouts at times. Melodies can also be heard in some of the guitar riffing along with the music also having its experimental moments and a couple of the tracks are long and epic in length. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover occultism, darkness and violence themes.
In my opinion Gravefields are a very great sounding blackened death metal group with elements of experimental, grind and hardcore and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Psychoactive Rites" "The Devils Breath" "Psychonaut Inferno" and "Void". 8 out of 10.
