Greece's Emperor Of Myself have returned with a new recording which continues their atmospheric mixture of black and gothic metal and this is a review of their self released 2019 ep "Distance".
A very heavy and melodic gothic metal sound starts off the ep along with some elements of doom/death metal. vocals are a mixture of growls and black metal screams while the music also shows a good amount of 90's influences and the solos and leads also bring in a great amount of melody.
All of the music sticks to a slow or mid tempo direction while also reminding of early Katatonia at times as well as maintaining a sound of their own. Most of the music is guitar driven which is very different for a band in the goth/doom metal style and all of the songs stick to a heavier direction but keeping it atmospheric at the same time.
Emperor Of Myself creates another recording that remains true to their atmospheric mixture of black and gothic metal. The production sounds very professional for being a self released recording while the lyrics cover life themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Emperor Of myself and if you are a fan of atmospheric black and gothic metal, you should check out t his ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Hate Endlessly" and "Until We Meet Again". 8 out of 10.
