Death Wolf are a band from Sweden that has had an album reviewed before in this zine and plays a mixture of black, thrash, heavy metal, punk and death rock and this is a review of their 2019 album "IV: Come The Dark" which will be released in December by Blooddawn Productions.
A very hard, heavy and old school sound starts off the album while the vocals are done in a very rough yet melodic style. The music also mixes in a great amount of black metal elements along with some atmospheric sounding keyboards also being used briefly and clean playing can also be heard in certain sections of the recording.
Influences of punk and death rock are also a very huge part of the album while the riffs also capturing the heaviness of thrash metal. All of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them along with the vocals also mixing in more of an aggressive goth metal style at times.
Even with the music being mostly rooted in more of an old school extreme metal and punk style the recording also sounds very modern at the same time. A decent amount of melody can also be heard in the guitar riffing along with the solos and leads also being done in a very melodic style as well as a couple of tracks also introducing clean playing and acoustic guitars onto the recording and all of the songs stick to either a slow or mid tempo direction. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover darkness and evil themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Death Wolf and if you are a fan of black, thrash, heavy metal, punk, goth and death rock, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "With Hate" "Funeral Pyre" "Serpents Hall"and "Conquerors Dance". 8 out of 10.
