Nite are a band from San Francisco, California that plays a blackened form of heavy metal and this is a review of their 2020 album "Darkness Silence Mirror" which will be released on July 31st on cassette by Sentient Ruin Laboratories.
A very hard and heavy 80's style traditional metal sound starts off the album while the solos and leads are also done in a very melodic and old school style. All of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them along with the vocals being mostly grim sounding black metal screams.
The riffs also add in a great amount of melody while also mixing in some elements of NWOBHM and 70's metal. Influences of first wave era black metal can also be heard quite a bit throughout the recording along with some of the tracks also being very long and epic in length.
The vocals also update the old school style for the modern era along with all of the music sticking mostly to either a slow or mid tempo style as well as one song also introducing clean playing onto the album and the closing track also shows an influence of speed metal. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Occultism, Horror and Evil themes.
In my opinion Nite are a very great sounding blackened heavy metal band and if you are looking for something that is very different, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Genesis" "Lucifer" "Night Terrors" and "Acolytes". 8 out of 10.
