Phobetor are a band from the United Kingdom that plays a mixture of black, death and groove metal and this is a review of their 2020 album "When Life Falls Silent" which was released by Black Jasper Records.
Stringed instruments start off the album along with some keyboards a few seconds later before going into a heavier direction. Whispered vocals can also be heard briefly while all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them as well as the vocals being a mixture of death metal growls and black metal screams.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very dark and melodic style while elements of groove metal can also be heard in the mid tempo sections of the songs. When the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats are also utilized along with the songs also adding in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts, clean playing and melodic vocals are also introduced on one of the tracks.
Phobetor plays a musical style that takes black, death and groove metal and mixes them together to create a sound of their own. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover dark and nihilistic themes.
In my opinion Phobetor are a very great sounding mixture of black, death and groove metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Merging Infinity" "Blind Widow" "Harmony Of Solitude" and "When Life Falls Silent". 8 out of 10.
