Snakeblade are a solo project from Vancouver, B.C, Canada that plays a musical style that he describes as nerdy'n'dirty black metal which combines black and thrash metal together and this is a review of his self released 2020 album "The Kingdom" which will be released on July 31st.
Melodic guitar riffing starts off the album while the faster sections of the songs also add in a decent amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they also use a great amount of melody and you can also hear a lot of thrash metal elements into the guitar riffing.
Vocals are mostly angry sounding black metal screams while the songs also add in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. The tracks also add in a good mixture of both old school and modern influences as well as adding in a brief use of growling vocals and death metal touches, back up shouts are also introduced on one of the tracks and later song also introduces clean playing onto the recording and the album closes with a cover of Truent's "Devoted to Destruction"..
Snakeblade plays a musical style that takes black and thrash metal and mixes them together to create a sound of his own. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover fantasy themes and medieval battles inspired by Lord Of the Rings, Dungeons And Dragons, The Witcher and Metal Gear Solid.
In my opinion Snakeblade are a very great sounding mixture of black and thrash metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "When Kingdoms Collide" and "Vamp, the Impaled". 8 out of 10.
