Symbiotic Growth are a band from Ontario, Canada that plays a very progressive form of blackened death metal and this is a review of their self released and self titled 2020 album.
Nature sounds and dark soundscapes start off the album before going into a heavier musical Direction. All of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them while the solos and leads are also done in a very dark yet melodic style and most of the tracks are also very long and epic in length.
When the music speeds up a great amount of brutal sounding blast beats can be heard while melodies can also be heard in some of the guitar riffing. Vocals are mostly death metal growls along with a few black metal screams also being utilized at times along with the songs also having their progressive moments.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the soundscapes also giving the music an experimental and avant garde feeling at times, clean playing can also be heard on some of the tracks as well as some songs also adding in a small amount of melodic vocals. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover the singularity of man and the terrifying unknown of higher dimensional experience.
In my opinion Symbiotic Growth are a very great sounding progressive blackened death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Technological Singularity" and "The Wilting Shroud Of Latent Automata". 8 out of 10.
