Forever Autumn is a solo project from Massachusetts that plays an avant garde mixture of black, doom and death metal and this is a review of her self released 2021 ep "Hail The Forest Dark" which will be released in September.
Distorted soundscapes start of the ep along with some heavier riffing a few seconds later while the vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams. Tremolo picking can also b e heard in some of the guitar riffing along with the slower sections of the songs also adding in elements of doom metal.
All of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them while percussion can also be heard at times which also adds in touches of folk music. When the music speeds up a small amount of blast beats can also be heard along with one track also adding in a brief use of vocals from Aaron Stainthorpe.
The music also has its avant garde moments along with some influences of death metal also being utilized at times, spoken word parts can also be heard briefly on the closing song as well as the guitar solos and leads also being done in a very melodic style when they are finally added onto the recording. The production sounds very dark and heavy while the lyrics cover nature themes.
In my opinion Forever Autumn is a very great sounding avant garde mixture of black, doom and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACK "The Firmament In Absence". 8 out of 10.
