Stress Angel are a duo from New York that plays a mixture of black, death and thrash metal and this is a review of their 2021 album "Bursting Church" which will be released in July as a joint effort between Dying Victims Productions and Stygian Black Hand.
Epic sounding synths start off the album before going into a heavier thrash metal direction while the faster sections of the songs also add in a great amount of blast beats. Vocals are done in mostly and 80's death metal style along with the music also adding in a great amount of first wave black metal elements.
Dark sounding melodies are also added in some of the guitar riffing while the songs also add in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. Most of the music is also heavily rooted in the 80's but mixed in with a more modern day brutality along with all of the musical instruments also having a very powerful sound to them.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic yet old school style as well as the synths also making a brief return on one of the later tracks and a later song is also an instrumental. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover dark themes.
In my opinion Stress Angel are a very great sounding mixture of black, death and thrash metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Flaming Kingdom" "Starving In A Closet" "Angel of Stress" and "The Human". 8 out of 10.
