Michael Anoia is a solo artist from France that plays a very progressive and blackened form of death metal and this is a review of his self released 2021 album "Nervures".
A very fast and brutal sound starts off the album along with a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. All of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them a long with the vocals also being a mixture of death metal growls and black metal screams and touches of post metal and mathcore can also be heard at times.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while dissonant structures are also added into some of the riffing. The music also has its psychedelic moments along with some angry shouts also being utilized at times as well as the solos and leads also being done in a very dark yet technical style.
Michael Anoia plays a style of blackened death emtal that is mixes in influences from other extreme genres to create a sound of his own. The production sounds very dark a dn heavy while the lyrics are written in French and cover dark themes.
In my opinion Micheak Anoia is a very great sounding progressive and blackened death metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Nigredo" and "Ibliss". 8 out of 10.
