Calgary, Alberta, Canada's solo project Haiduk have returned with a new recording which continues the blackened death metal style of his previous releases and this is a review of his self released 2021 album "Diabolica".
A very fast and brutal sound starts off the album along with a great amount of blast beats while the riffs also add in a a lot of melody. Vocals are mostly death metal growls as well as the faster riffing also adding in some black metal style tremolo picking and most of the tracks are under 3 minutes.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while some of the riffing also shows an influence of thrash metal. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very dark yet melodic style along with the vocals only being used briefly on each track to focus more on a brutal style and the whole album also sticks to a heavier direction.
On this recording Haiduk remains true to the blackened death metal style that he has established on previous releases. The production sounds very dark and heavy while the lyrics cover supernatural, fantasy, black magick, darkness and nature themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Haiduk and if you are a fan of blackened death metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Corpse Crown" "Wraithavoc" "Abyss mage" and "Sea Of Fire". 8 out of 10.
