1.Can you give us an update on what has been going on with the band since the recording and release of the new ep?
Currently we are keeping busy rehearsing for live shows, and writing for our next release
2.Recently you have released a new ep, musically how doe sit differ form the stuff you have released in the past?
Musically, we have always kept things in the evil death metal/black death metal domain and will continue to do so! I can say that our musicianship is something that is constantly progressing, so maybe there is more cohesion in that regard. But essentially we are toeing the same lines we always have, stylistically. We also continue to grow in the production aspect of things, as far as recording studios. We have gone from a self-recorded band, to moving into smaller studios for the last 3 releases and hope to go larger in the future.
3.So far most of your releases have been demo's and ep's, are there any plans for a full length in the future?
Yes, we have always had the goal in mind to do a full length album but have been limited in the past by mostly financial reasons. I think at this point we are all far enough along in our respective life journeys to make it happen, maybe for the next release, but in the future for sure.
4.A lot of your lyrics cover occult, satanic and anti Christian topics, can you tell us a little bit more about your interest in the dark arts?
I would say the band itself has a Satanic mindset or worldview, as far as interacting with others and how things should be handled for sure. But we are not any kind of religious or spiritual band, not involved in any silly worshipping or "evil spells".
5.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Thou Shalt Not'?
This is purely to poke fun at Christianity trying to tell others what to do, while they are indulging in whatever it is pleases them behind closed doors. We are all human animals, some of us more pretentious than others.
6.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the ep cover?
The artwork is a sick creation by Cody Knarr (Creepuscular Gloom designs), we gave him a basic idea of what we wanted and he knocked it out of the park! We have a very interesting piece, with lots of small details to be noticed the longer you look over it. It depicts the sickened inner sanctum of those fallen to their vices and embracing their own innate human sickness.
7.What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and also how would you describe your stage performance?
We have not been onstage as a band since about 2016 or so, but we have had some killer shows in the past. We have done shows with Incantation, Deicide, War Father, Funerus, Faith Xtractor, Manticore, Burial Ritual, and others. We were extremely active once upon a time so its really hard to choose just one! As far as what to expect, we like to give our all into the performance and have sick headbanging, bullet belts, spikes, etc and just give the classic black/death metal experience to our audience.
8.Do you have any touring or show plans for 2022?
So far we are booked for June 11th in Cincinnati, OH for the OHbliteration festival that Transplant Productions/Will Feiner is putting on. This will be a 2 day fest, featuring some really cool Ohio bands that are maybe a little more rare to catch live. Of course, the live music environment is a little more difficult with the current flu pandemic stuff going on, but we are amped up and ready for any opportunity presented to us!
9.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of black and death metal?
I would say we have been received well, we have fans all over Europe and Mexico as well as the US we have been sending stuff since our first demos in 2005.
10.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?
We are only going to continue to bring more evil, sick, powerful music forth and vomit it upon anyone within earshot!
11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
We are most influenced by bands like Angelcorpse, Morbid Angel, Centvrian, Incantation, Archgoat, Marduk, Disciples of Mockery, there is probably plenty I am forgetting here. Point being, most things that have a raw, dark, energy to them are probably influencing us in some way.
12.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?
