Baalzagoth are a band from Poland that plays a blackened form of death metal with elements of doom metal and this is a review of their 2022 album "Morbid Persecutions" which was released by Mara Productions.
Clean yet distorted playing starts off the album with a brief use of orchestral sounds before going into a heavier direction. Elements of doom metal can also be heard in the slower sections of the songs while the riffs also add in a decent amount of dark sounding melodies and the vocals are mostly death metal growls.
A lot of t he music also shows an influence of the 90's era as well as remaining very modern at the same time. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very dark yet melodic style while the faster sections of the songs also add in a great amount of blast beats.
grim black metal screams can also be heard at times along with the tracks also adding in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts, tremolo picking can also be heard in some of the faster riffing as well as one track also bringing in a brief use of spoken word parts and as the album progresses a brief use of acoustic guitars are also utilized. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover violence, death, existentialism and anti religion themes.
In my opinion Ballzagoth are a very great sounding mixture of blackened death and doom metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Unholy War" "Revenge" "Pagan's Hell" and "In Nomine...". 8 out of 10.
