Haunter/Incantations Through Dark Magick/Fiadh Productions/2023 EP Review

 

  Haunter  are  a  band  from  California  that  plays  a  mixture  of  black,  thrash  metal  and  punk  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2023  ep  "Through  Dark  Magick"  which  was  released  by  Fiadh  Productions.

 

 Horror  movie  style  keyboards  start  off  the  ep  before  going  into  more  of  a  heavier  and  melodic  musical  direction.  Elements  of  thrash  metal  can  also  be  heard  in  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  black  metal  screams  and  at  times  the  music  captures  the  raw  energy  of  punk   rock.   

  A  lot  of t he  music  is  heavily  rooted  in  the  80's  era  mixed  in  with  some  more  modern  touches  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  add  in  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats.  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  yet  old  school  style  and  most  of  the  music  sticks  to  either  a  fast  or  mid  tempo  direction.

 Haunter  plays  a  musical  style  that  takes  black,  thrash  metal  and  punk  rock  and  mixes  them  together  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  Witchcraft,  Magick  and  Horror  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Haunter  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  black,  thrash  metal  and  punk  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Shadow  Spell"  and  "Dark  Hallucinations".  8  out  of  10.
