Funeral Vomit are a band from Columbia that plays a very cavernous and blackened form of black metal and this is a review of their 2023 album "Monumental Petrescence" which was released by Xtreem music.
A very dark sounding intro starts off the album along with some demonic voices before going into a heavier direction. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very chaotic style while the faster sections of the songs also add in a great amount of blast beats and the vocals are mostly cavernous death metal growls.
Elements of black metal are also utilized quite a bit throughout the recording while the music is very heavily rooted in the 90's era. The songs also add in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with all of the musical instruments also having a very powerful sound to them.
Dark sounding melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing as well as some grim screams also being utilized at times. Tremolo picking can also be heard in some of the faster riffing along with the music also having its brutal moments, synths can also be heard briefly and also brings in the atmosphere of a horror movie soundtrack. The production sounds very old school while the lyrics cover death, darkness and necromancy themes.
In my opinion Funeral Vomit are a very great sounding cavernous blackened death emtal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Immense Morbidity" "Cadaveric Apparition" and "Necromantical Winds". 8 out of 10.
