Omnivortex are a band from Finland that plays a very technical, dissonant and blackened form of death metal and this is a review of their 2023 album "Circulate" which was released by Inverse Records.
A very dark, heavy and melodic sound starts off the album before going into a very fast, brutal and dissonant direction which also utilizes a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. Vocals are a mixture of black metal screams and death metal growls while all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them.
At times the music also gets very technical sounding while the songs also add in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. Clean playing can also be heard in certain sections of the recording along with the solos and leads also bringing in a very dissonant style as well as a couple of tracks also being very long and epic in length, whispered vocals, clear singing and spoken word parts are also utilized briefly and some of the riffing also shows an influence of thrash metal.
Omnivortex plays a style of blackened death metal that is very brutal, technical and dissonant sounding. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover death, horror, consciousness and inner struggles.
In my opinion Omnivortex are a very great sounding dissonant and technical blackened death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Dwells" "Slumbering In Black" and "Endless". 8 out of 10.
