Gribberiket are a band from Norway that has been featured before in this zine and plays a blackened form of doom metal and this is a review of their 2017 album "Sluket" which will be released in June by Dead Seed Productions.
Clean playing and amp noises start off the album before adding in heavy yet melodic riffing as well as some tortured vocals and clear vocals a re also utilized briefly before adding in high pitched black metal screams and the bass guitar also has a dominant sound on the recording.
When guitar leads a re utilized they are done in a very dark yet melodic fashion along with a great portion of the tracks being very long and epic in length and spoken word part which also gives the music a more ritualistic feeling are also utilized at times while the slow riffs are very heavily influenced by doom metal and all of the songs stick to a very slow musical direction.
Gribberiket creates another recording that remains true to the blackened doom metal style of previous releases, the production sounds very dark and heavy while the lyrics are written in Norwegian and cover dark and depressive themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Gribberiket and if you are a fan of blackened doom metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Gjestebud" and "Nytelsen Og OpplA,sningen". 8 out of 10.
