Letheria are a band from Finland that plays a blackened form of death metal and this is a review of their 2018 album "Death-Principle" which will be released in November by Saturnal Records.
Ritualistic chanting starts off the album along with some powerful sounding bass guitars a few seconds later which also takes the music into a heavier direction while the vocals are in between death metal growls and black metal screams and when the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can be heard.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while spoken word parts are also utilized at times along with the fast riffs also bringing in a great amount of tremolo picking as well as the riffs also utilizing a great amount of dark sounding melodies, shouts are also used at times and as the album progresses clean playing and acoustic guitars can also be heard in certain sections of the recording and elements of thrash can also be heard in some of the guitar riffing.
Letheria plays a style of blackened death metal that has influences ranging from the 90's to modern era, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover hate, death, anti religion and self destruction themes.
In my opinion Letheria are a very great sounding blackened death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Inverted Rapture" "Pestchrist" "Malaria Magdalena" and "Rotting God". 8 out of 10.
