Domain are a band from Poland that has had music reviewed before in this zine and plays a blackened form of death metal and this is a review of their 2002 album "Gat Etemmi" which was re-issued in 2019 by Old Temple.
Dark yet ritualistic soundscapes start off the album before going into a heavier musical direction which also uses a decent amount of dark sounding melodies. Vocals are mostly angry sounding death metal growls along with the music also being very heavily rooted in the 90's style.
Grim black metal screams can also be heard in some parts of the recording along with all of the musical instruments also having a very powerful sound to them. Industrial elements can also be heard briefly along with a few of the tracks also adding in a small amount of flutes, operatic female vocals, clean playing and keyboards.
A lot of the music also brings in a good mixture of both Polish and Swedish influences while a couple of brief ritualistic interludes can be heard as the album progresses before returning back to a heavier direction and the album closes with an instruemntal. The production sounds very old school while the lyrics cover Occultism, Sumerian Magick and the writings of H.P Lovecraft.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Domain which showed them taking their blackened death metal style into more of an atmospheric and ritualistic direction and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out t his re-issue. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Seven Sibbiti" "Anzu Storm" "Dingir Xul" and "Shub Nigurath Space Outside". 8 out of 10.
