Thrashwitch are a band from Rhode Island that plays a mixture of black, thrash metal and doom rock and this is a review of their self released 219 demo "A New England Folktale".
A horror movie orientated intro starts off the demo while also giving the music more of a ritualistic and occult atmosphere before going into a heavier direction. Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams while the faster sections of the songs also add in a small amount of tremolo picking and blast beats.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while the solos and leads gives the songs more of a 70's doom rock vibe. Movie samples also make a return on later tracks along with the music also adding in a good amount of thrash metal elements and the demo closes with an instrumental.
Threashwitch plays a musical style that takes black, thrash metal and doom rock and mixes them together to create a sound of their own. The production sounds very old school while the lyrics cover occultism, suicide and nuclear war themes.
In my opinion Thrashwitch are a very great sounding mixture of black, thrash metal and doom rock and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out t his band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Driven To Suicide" and "Atomic Sickness". 8 out of 10.
