Finland's Sepulchral Curse have returned with a new recording which continues the blackened death metal style of their previous release and this is a review of their 2020 album "Only Ashes Remain" which will be released on July 31st by transcending Obscurity Records.
A very fast and brutal sound starts off the album along with a great amount of blast beats and tremolo picking. Vocals are mostly death metal growls while the music also brings in a great amount of 90's influences and some of the tracks are also very long and epic in length and melodies are also added in some of the guitar riffing.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while black metal screams are also added into some parts of the music. All of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them along with the solos and leads also being done in a very old school yet melodic style, dark sounding melodies are also added into a lot of the guitar riffing and the whole album also sticks to a heavier musical direction.
On this recording Sepulchral Curse remain true to the old school style of blackened death metal that was established on their previous release. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Occultism, Mysticism, Spirituality and Death themes along with the last song being written in Finnish.
In my opinion this is another great sounding album from Sepulchral Curse and if you are a fan of blackened death metal, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "From Within The Bowels Of Earth" "Into The Depths Unknown" and "Dead Starts Drawing Spirals". 8 out of 10.
