Gods Tower are a band from Belarus that has had music reviewed before in this zine and plays a progressive mixture of pagan, black, doom and folk metal and this is a review of their 2020 compilation album "Mirrors And Echoes" which was released by Earth And Sky Productions.
Epic sounding synths start off the compilation and also mixes in with the heavier sections of the music at times. When guitar solos are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style while the slower sections of the songs also add in elements of doom metal and all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them.
Influences of folk music can also be heard at times while the riffs also add in a decent amount of melody. Vocals are done in more of an aggressive yet semi melodic pagan style along with some of the tracks also being very long and epic in length and they also bring in some Nokturnal Mortem and Bathory covers.
At times the music also gets very progressive sounding along with the compilation also adding in touches of black metal in certain sections of the tracks as well as one song also being influenced by thrash metal, as the compilation progresses a brief use of spoken word parts and acoustic guitars can also be heard and the compilation also closes with 4 live songs and all of the music also sticks to either a slow or mid tempo direction. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Paganism themes.
In my opinion this is a very great sounding collection from Gods Tower and if you are a fan of pagan, black, doom, folk and progressive metal, you should check out this compilation. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Roll Out" "The Field Of The Dead" "Heroes Die Young" and "Earth, Wind, Fire And Blood". 8 out of 10.
