Sign Of Evil are a duo from Chile that has had music reviewed before in this zine plays a mixture of black and speed metal with some elements of punk and Italian occult rock and this is a review of their 2022 album "Psychodelic Death" which was released by Edged Circle Productions.
A very dark yet apocalyptic sound starts off the album before going into a faster musical direction which also uses a great amount of blast beats. Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams while guttural vocals can also be heard at times and the music also brings in a great amount of first wave, thrash and speed metal elements.
Most of the music is also very heavily rooted in the 80's style while the solos and leads also bring in more of an underground old school style. When keyboards are utilized they also bring in more of a horror movie orientated soundtrack atmosphere along with the songs also adding in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
At times the music also captures the raw energy of punk rock along with the atmosphere of deathrock along with the music also mixing in some touches of the 80's era Eastern Bloc metal style as well as some tremolo picking also being added into some of the faster riffing, spoken word parts can also be heard briefly. The production sounds very old school while the lyrics cover blasphemy, anti Christianity, hell, torture, death and horror themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Sign Of Evil and if you are a fan of black and speed metal with some elements of punk and Italian occult rock and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Bad trip" "Serpent Poison" "The War Is Now" and "Into The Unknown". 8/5 out of 10.
