This is a review of a split ep between Japan's Evil and U.S.A's Siege Column which will be released on August 15th by Hells Headbangers and we will start off the review with Evil who return with their mixture of black, thrash and speed metal.
Their side of the split starts out with a very heavy and old school sound while the faster sections add in elements of speed metal and blast beats. When solos and leads are utilized they are done in an 80's influenced style along with the vocals being done in a first wave black emtal style.
Power metal style screams can also be heard for a few seconds along with all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them as well as the songs also adding in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. The production sounds very old school while the lyrics cover Satanism and Evilness themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Evil and if you are a fan of first wave black, thrash and speed metal, you should check out their side of the split. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Welcome To Satan".
Next up is Siege Column a band that plays a barbaric form of death emtal.
Their side of the split starts out with some horror movie style synths before going into a heavier direction along with the solos and leads being done in a very old school style. When the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can be heard and the vocals are mid 80's style death metal growls.
Elements of thrash can also be heard in the music along with the songs also adding in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and all of the songs sound like they could of easily been recorded and released more than 30 years ago, dark sounding melodies can also be heard briefly. The production sounds very old school while the lyrics cover evil and combat themes.
In my opinion Siege Column are a very great sounding old school and barbaric death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out t heir side of the split. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Fight Of Destruction".
In conclusion I feel this is a very great sounding split and would recommend it to all fans of 80's era black, death and thrash metal. 8 out of 10.
