  Belgium's  Marche  Funebre  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  continues  the  mixture  of  black,  doom  and  death  metal  from  their  previous  releases  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2020  album  "Einderlichit"  which  will  be  released  in  September  by  Hypnotic  Dirge  Records.

  Atmospheric  soundscapes  and  a  powerful  sounding  bass  guitar  starts  off  the  album  while  clean  playing  is  also  added  on  some  of  the  tracks.  Some  songs  also  add  in  some  clear  vocals   along  with  the  music  also  introducing  death  metal  growls  onto  the  recording  once  the  music  goes  into  a  heavier  direction.

  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  while  elements  of  doom  metal  can  also  be  heard  in  the  slower  sections  of  the  songs.  Black  metal  screams  can  also  be  heard  in  some  parts  of  the  music  along  with  the  solos  and  leads  also  being  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  and  all  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats  can  also  be  heard  and  most  of  the  music  sticks  to  either  a  slow  or  mid  tempo  direction  and  as  the  album  progresses  a  brief  use  of  spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard. The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  literature,  philosophy  and  grief  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Marche  Funebre  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  black,  doom  and  death  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Scarred"  and  "Deformed".  8  out  of  10.

Diabhal/MMXX/2020 Full Length Review

  Diabhal  are  a  band  from  New  York  that  plays  a  brutal  mixture  of  blackened  death  metal  and  grindcore  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2020  album  "MMXX".

  A  very  dark  and  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  deep  death  metal  growls  a  few  seconds  later.  The  music  also  adds  in  a  good  mixture  of  both  old  school  and  modern  influences  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  brutal  blast  beats.

  Black  metal  screams  are  also  added  into  some  parts  of  the  recording  while  dark  sounding  melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.

  Tremolo  picking  and  grindcore  elements  can  also  be  heard  in  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  along  with  the  average  length  of  the  songs  being  over  2  minutes.  Horror  movie  samples  are  also  added  on  some  of  the  tracks  as  well  as  the  vocals  also  having  their  guttural  moments  and  also  adding  touches  of  slam  into  the  mid  tempo  sections  of  the  songs,  all  of  the  music  also  sticks  to  a  very  heavy  and  brutal  direction  and  the  album  also closes  with  a  cover  of  Baphomet's  "The  Suffering".  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while the  lyrics  cover  horror  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Diabhal  are  a  very  great  sounding  brutal  mixture  of  blackened  death  metal  and  grindcore  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Vermin  Plague"  "Necromancer"  "Neckbreaker"  and  "Scalpel".  8  out  of  10.

Moonspell/The Butterfly Effect/Napalm Records/2020 Album Re-Issue Review

  This  is  a  review  of  another  recording  from  Portugal's Moonspell  which  showed  the  music  going  for  more  of  a  mixture  of  experimental,  industrial,  black,  doom  and  goth  metal  and  the  album  was  originally released  in  1999  and  called  "The  Butterfly  Effect"  and  was  re-issued  in  2020  by  Napalm  Records.

  Programmed  beats  and  electro-industrial  elements  start  off  the  album  along  with  some  clean  goth  metal vocals  a  few  seconds  alter  which  also takes  the  music  into  a  heavier  direction.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  while  black  metal  screams  and death  metal  growls  are  also  utilized  at  times.

  The  synths  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  an  atmospheric  feeling  while  spoken  word  parts  are  also  added  into  some  parts  of  the  recording.  At  times  the  music  also  gets  very  experimental  sounding  along  with  one  track  also  introducing  clean  playing  onto  the  album  and  touches  of  trip  hop  can  also  be  heard  briefly.

  When  percussion's  are utilized  they  also  give  the  songs  more  of  a  tribal  feeling  along  with  some  blast  beats  also  being  added  into  the  faster  sections  of  the  music.  Noises  and  samples  can  also  be  heard  on some  of  the  tracks  and  as  the  album  progresses  the  songs  also  get  more  diverse  sounding.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  scientific  chaos  theory.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Moonspell  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should check  out  this  re-issue.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Soulsick"  "Can't  Bee'  "I  Am  The  Eternal  Spectator"  and  "Tired".  8  out  of  10.

Ragehammer/Into Certain Death/Pagan Records/2020 CD Review

  Poland's  Ragehammer  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  continues  their  mixture  of  black  and  thrash  metal  from  their  previous  releases  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2020  album  "Into  Certain  Death"  which  will  be  released  in September  by  Pagan  Records.

  March  sounds  start  off  the  album  before  adding  in  some  heavy  yet  melodic  riffing  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  also  be  heard  and  the  vocals  are  mostly  blackened  screams.

  Elements  of  thrash  metal  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  while  the  solos  and  leads  are  done  in  a  very  melodic  yet  old  school  style.  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  the  vocals  also  bringing  in  a  very  deep  yet  aggressive  style  at  times.

 The  music  taking  an  old  school  style  and  mixing  it  with  a  more  modern  day  aggression  along  with  one  track   also  adding  in  a  brief  use  of  melodic  chants  as  well  as  all  the  closing  song being  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  also  introducing  clean  playing  onto  the  recording  and  also  shows  the  vocals  mixing  in  more  of  a  power/thrash  metal  style.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  death, hate,  anti  religion  and  desecration  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Ragehammer  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  black  and  thrash  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Beneath  The  Red  Suns"  "Peace"  "Fear  Toxine"  and  "Dragon  City".  8  out  of  10.

  Germany's  Arroganz  has  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  continues  the  brutal  blackened  death  metal  style  from  their  previous  releases  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2020  album  "Morsus"  which  will  be  released  in  October  by  Supreme  Chaos  Records.

  Stringed  instruments  and  clean  playing  start  off  the  album  along  with  a  brief  use  of  spoken  word  parts  and  clean  singing  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very powerful  sound  to  them  and  when  the  music  speeds  up a   great  amount  of  brutal  sounding  blast  beats  can  be  heard.

  Vocals a re  a  mixture  of  death  metal  growls  and  black  metal  screams  while  the  songs  also  add  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  Electronic  music  sounds  can  also  be heard  briefly  along  with  the  riffs  also  adding  in  melodies  at  times  as  well  as  spoken  word  parts  and  clean  singing  also  making  a  return  on  one  of  the  later  songs. 

  Pianos  and  synths  can  also  be  heard  briefly  along  with  some  elements  of  doom  metal  also  being  added  into  the  slower  sections  of  the  songs  as  well  as  the  music  also  showing  more  diversity  then  previous  releases,  clean  playing  can  also  be  heard  on  the  closing  track.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  Satanism,  Death,  Possession,  Anti  Religion,  Chaos  and  Liberation  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  album  from  Arroganz  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  blackened  death  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Morsus" "Dead  Man  Gallery"  "Next  level  Stan"  and  "I  Dealt  With  The  Devil".  8  out  of  10.

Garth Arum/The Fireflowers Tale/Darkness Within/Darkwoods/2020 CD Review

  Garth  Arum  are  a  solo  project  from  Spain  that  plays  an  avant  garde  and  progressive  mixture  of  black  and  doom  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2020  album  "The  Fireflowers  Tale"  which  will  be  released  on  August  24th  by  Darkness  Within/Darkwoods.

  Nature  sounds  start  off  the  album  while  ambient  style  soundscapes  can  also  be  heard  briefly  along  with  most  of  the  tracks  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length.  Operatic  female  vocals  can  also  be  heard  on  one  of  the  songs  and  when  synths  are  utilized  they  also  give  the  tracks  more  of  an  atmospheric  feeling.

  Clean  playing  can  also  be  heard  on  the  second  track  while  the  solos  and  leads  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style.  At  times  the  music  also gets  very  progressive  sounding  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  death  metal  growls  are  also  a  very  huge  part  of  the  recording.

  Blackened  screams  can  also  be  heard  some  parts  of  the  music  along  with  the  faster  sections  of  songs  also  adding  in  a  decent  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  Elements  of  doom  metal  can  also  be  heard  in  the  slower  sections  of  the  tracks,  clean  singing  and  whispers  can  also  be  heard  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording  and  throughout  the  album  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  The   production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  dreams  and  the  deep  voyages   within.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Garth  Arum  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  avant  garde,  black  and  doom  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Flowers  Of  Life"  and  "The  Gods  Are  Beholding  You".  8  out  of  10.

  Greece's  duo  Emperor  Of  Myself  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  continues  the  atmospheric  mixture  of  black  and  gothic  metal  from  their  previous  releases  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2020  album  "All  My  Feelings  Exposed".

  A  very  hard  and  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  album  while  the  vocals  also  bring  in  a  mixture  of  death  metal  growls  and  black  metal  screams.  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  along  with  the  music  also  bringing  in  a  great  amount  of  gothic  metal  elements.

  All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  while  the  riffs  also  add  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody.  Influences  of  of 90's  era  atmospheric  doom/death  metal  can  also  be  heard  in  the  slower  sections  of  the  songs  along  with  some  touches  of  the  more  modern  post  metal  style  as  well  as  most  of  the  music  sticking  to  a  mid  tempo  direction  and  acoustic  guitars  are  also  added  on  the  closing  track.

  On  this  recording  Emperor  of  myself  remains  true  to  the  atmospheric  mixture  of  black  and  gothic  metal  that  they  had established  on  previous  releases.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark  and  depressive  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Emperor  Of  Myself  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  atmospheric  black  and  gothic  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Sunken  Eyes"  "All  my  Feelings  Exposed"  and  "October".8out  of  10.

Skeleton Interview

1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?

S: Yeah we are a band from Austin, Tx. established in I believe 2014. We are about experience, intensity, and dystroying every other band out there. Every show is a war zone and every song is a blast from a gun. We create with honesty and intention to pummel mediocrity.

2. You have your first full length coming out, musically how does it differ from the stuff you have released in the past?

S: We recorded this album nearly two years ago at this point, and some of the songs were already "old" at that time. So, this album is more a glimpse of where we came from than where the band is currently at in our eyes. We've all played in a number of Punk, HC, Noise, etc. bands and draw from all those influences in our writing. Our goal has always been to try and write the hardest, darkest, and most extreme songs we could while placing a huge focus on the riff. I imagine listening through the bands catalog you might be able to see this progression. Our next LP will only continue this...

3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects you have explored so far with the music?

S: One thing I would like to make clear is that there are 0 "Satanic" lyrics in our songs. Not that I have a problem with that theme, but I am not a practicing Satanist so why would I ever sing about that? I see bands dishonestly choose that route and it is beyond embarrassing. I don't think they even realize how stupid they look... Very few bands in history ever were actually Satanic in my opinion.

I have always enjoyed songs with very few lyrics, but the couple present invoke such a concept or feeling there is no need for more. Stripping the story or point down to one powerful line and delivering it with full conviction.

4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Skeleton'?

S: There isn't much... It's not an overcomplicated name and seemed available for us to associate a sound to it. For as often as we hear, "There are so many bands called Skeleton..." we hear equally, "I can't believe no one has named their band Skeleton before...". So I don't know, I found a Texas thrash band from the 80's with the name but they only ever released a demo. Being that they are from Texas as well, I'd buy them a beer for taking the name and we would probably be friends. But, some guys in Europe I believe just started a band called Skeleton and put a record out so fuck them. It's ours.

5.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the new album cover?

S: Our friend Jeremy Cook did the artwork for the album. He is an accomplished tattoo artist in Austin, but has a unique style and process for his paintings. We did not want to go with the "typical" style cover art you see every cross-over/death metal band using these days. While they do look cool, I think they have about as much originality to them as you discover the music has when you put the record on. When you walk into your record store, you'll see our album stand out on the shelves from across the room and think, "There it is."


6.What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and also how would you describe your stage performance?

S: Any TX. band line up is going to be a good show because we absolutely have the best bands down here. Skourge, Frozen Soul, Seclusion, Iron Age, Creeping Death, Afflictive Nature, Army, Blank Hellscape, The Pose, Dress Code, and Nosferatu are just a few to mention of a long list of allies. Everyone holds their own and when we play together shows go off harder here than anywhere I've seen. Moshing, stage diving, and just a general good time with big turnouts. Also, shows are nearly always All-Ages because music is for everyone and bringing youth into this is important.

7.The new album is going to be released on '20 Buck Spin' how would you compare working with them to 'Super Secret Records'?

S: They are two completely different labels. We are very happy to have this LP come out with 20BS and they have been nothing short of amazing to work with. Being a part of a label that is more directly tied into the musical stylings we resemble makes a lot of sense as well. However, without the support that Super Secret Records showed us, it would be very conceivable that this band wouldn't still exist. We've been lucky to collaborate with such amazing people on both of those labels and we appreciate them greatly!

8.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of black metal and Punk?

S: Well if anyone is too stuck to being affiliated or identify with one genre I don't know if they would get what we do. We would like to think there is something everyone could relate to, regardless of what genre they need to call themselves. We do not create with the intention of pleasing the listener or to fit in any genre, but rather write what we hear inside and is enjoyable to us. In general, the reviews we have seen have been overwhelmingly positive which is flattering.

9.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

S: Staying true and continuing our efforts of writing the most crushing riffs with the highest intensity we can.

10.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

S: There is some very special quality or energy a band needs to possess for us to care about them that I don't know how to put into words but we are tuned into. Most bands are forgettable or mediocre at best... This quality we are honed in on can exist in any genre of music, which is maybe why people have a hard time pinning us to any singular style and why we seemingly jump from sound to sound. It's an honesty and intention that's expressed through music that I think we look for rather than a style. But if we want to talk general metal bands we like, a few of note would be: Dissection, Unleashed, Bolt Thrower, Dystopia, and Kyuss. As of late, David and I have been listening to a lot of early Dying Fetus.

11.What are some of your non musical interests?

S: David is studying blacksmithing, Cody skates, and Victor likes to travel.

12.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

S: Thank you for the thoughtful questions and support of the album. Represses of the record have been ordered and should be available soon! At the end of the month we will be recording our next full length so keep an eye for when that comes out on 20 Buck Spin.   A  very  dark  and  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  album  while  e-bow's  can  also  be  heard  briefly  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  grindcore  elements,  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  also  be  heard.  Vocals  are  mostly  blackened  metal  screams  along  with  the  riffs  also  adding  in  some  melodies.

Walls Of Hate Interview

1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the musical project?

Walls of Hate for now is just a studio project. The idea to bring this project to life comes from last year (2019) when I realize that I have enough material to record and spread the music to the people. What I'm looking for with this band is to take out and compose all my own ideas without limits or restrictions. In my experience playing with other bands here in Honduras (such as Dragon Eyes, Necrofear, Ashes of Death) There are always different opinions and music influences in between the musicians when composing. It is obvious because each one of us are different and are influenced with different styles, genres, etc. To avoid restrictions, and to share with all of you my ideas, Walls of Hate will be the path for it.

2.So far you have released an ep, can you tell us a little bit more about the musical style you went for on the recording?

I have a lot of influences and I like a lot of subgenres that metal has given us through the time. The musical idea for Walls of Hate is to always make the songs feel and sounds as dark as possible! The main genres that can be appreciated in Walls of Hate music are Black Metal, Blackened Death Metal and Death Metal. I´m always open to experiment with different sounds and styles as long as we dont
loss the essence of the original idea of the compositions, and obviously it has to sound good. For this first recording I think that I found the perfect equilibrium in between the melodies, the rhythmic riffs, background ambient, the tempo variation and the style of voices recorded.

3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects you have explored so far with the music?

In this debut EP, the lyrics are about Sci-fi, History and Antireligious. For further recordings I will be using a lot of the same topics written before and also themes such as mysticism, occultism, mythology and secrets-conspirations. These are themes that I personally like and would like to transform it in songs. At some point of the project, I would also like to write about Social problems, since my country is involved with injustice and corruption.

4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Walls Of Hate'?

There is not a meaning for the name of the band. I just took it because around 4 - 5 years ago I heard that phrase in the news and I like it because it sounds good to me.

5.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the ep cover?

It is a really simple cover. It was created by my brother Oscar. The cover is an alchemy symbol named Antimony and represents as an ancient symbol your interior nature, your natural origin and your wild spirit. I really like the meaning of the symbol since this work represents the ideas I have in my own to be shared with all of you. Now I have to find a way to make this symbol a part of the official logo (which needed to be worked properly in the future).

6.With this project you record everything by yourself, are you open to working with other musicians or do you prefer to work solo?

Yes I record and compose all the guitars and bass, and also compose and write digitally the other instruments. For the vocals of the recording, I contact Juan Ayestas from Alien Media Prods (studio were mastering, mixing, eq and all that stuff took place), a musician and friend here in Honduras to help me since I suck in doing growls and stuff related to vocals haha. And of course, I am open to having collaborations from other musicians, especially friends, as long as their collaborations and ideas match with what I am looking for..

7.Currently you are unsigned, are you looking for a label or have received any interest?

I am not looking for a label. Here in Honduras, the music industry in general is very weak. I have received a couple of underground metal labels emails from Europe with their info but at this time I have not paid the proper attention to this kind of stuff.

8.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of black and death metal?

It has been great. Honestly, I didn't expect that something that I compose and write in my house here in Honduras can be heard in different parts of the world, but it is happening and it feels great. The comments and reviews have been very decent. I think people like it. I hope my music reach more and more metalheads around the world, and with the help of my friend Oleks, from Grand Sounds PR (which is doing really nice work) it is possible to happen.

9.Are you currently involved with any other bands or musical projects these days?

Yes. I love to play music and share time with my friends. I'm involved with two more bands right now, heavy metal Dragon Eyes and death metal Ashes of Death.

10.When can we expect a full length and also where do you see yourself heading into as a musician during the future?

I already have the music for the full length. It will be complemented with this EP songs. The plans for the full length is to have it done and ready for the metalheads in the first couple of months of next year, 2021. Since it will be a full length, it will be released in digital and in physical ways.

11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

The main influence  of my music style is the black, death and blackened death metal genres. I catch a lot of ideas and influences by listening to bands such as Rotting Christ, Dissection, Behemoth, Maat, Diabolical, Emperor, just to mention some.

Blackevil/Forever Baptised In Eternal Fire/Dying Victims Productions/2020 Full Length Review

  Blackevil  are  a  band  from  Germany  that  plays  a  mixture  of  black  and  thrash  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2020  album  "Forever  Baptised  In  Eternal  Fire"  which  will  be  released  in  September  by  Dying  Victims  Productions.

  A  very  dark  and  ritualistic  sounding  intro  starts  off  the  album  along  with  a  brief  use  of  synths  and  spoken  word  parts  before  going  into  a  heavier  musical  direction.  The  riffs  also  mix  in  a  great  amount  of  thrash  metal  elements  while  the  also  add  in  melodies  at  times  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  Vocals  are  done  in  mostly  and  80's  German  thrash  metal  style  while  death  metal  growls  can  also  be  heard  at  times.  Elements  of  first  wave  black  metal  can  also  be  heard  quite  a  bit  throughout  the  recording  along  with  the  music  being  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  past  but  modern  at  the  same  time.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  the  solos  and  leads  being  done  in  a  very  melodic  and  old  school  style.  Spoken  word  parts and  synths  also  make  a  return  in certain  sections  of  the  the  recording  as  well  as  the  faster  riffing  also  adding  in  a  decent  amount  of  tremolo  picking.

  Back  up  shouts  can  also  be  heard  on  some  of  the  tracks  as  well  some  of  the  songs  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  as  the  album  progresses  a  brief  use  of  Gregorian  chants  and  acoustic  guitars  can  also  be  heard  on  a  couple  of  songs  along  with  later  tracks  also  mixing  in  influences  of  speed  and  traditional  metal.  The  production  sounds  very professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  Satanism,  Luciferian,  Occultism,  Purgatory  and  War  themes.


  In  my  opinion  Blackevil  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  black  and  thrash  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Satan's  Crown"  "Forever  Baptised  In  Flames"  and  "Lucifer's  Supremacy".  8  out  of  10.

"Black Fire Tornado":

Hexecutor/Beyond Any Human Conception Of Knowledge/Dying Victims Productions/2020 Full Length Review

  Hexecutor  are  a  band  from  France  that  plays  an  old  school  mixture  of  black,  death  and  thrash  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2020  album  "Beyond  Any  Human  Conception  Of  Knowledge"  which  will  be  released  in  September  by  Dying  Victims  Productions.

  Drum  beats  start  off  the  album  along  with  some  heavier  riffing  a  few  seconds  later  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  black  metal  screams  that  show  an  influence  of  both  the  first  and  second  wave.  The  riffs  also  add  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  blast  beats  can  be  heard.

  Elements  of  thrash  metal  can  also  be  heard  in  the  guitar  riffing  and  while  the  music  is  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  80's  it  still  sounds  very  modern.  when  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  also  remain  true  to  an  old  school  style  as  well  as  having  their  melodic  moments  along  with  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.

  Touches  of  early  90's  era  death  metal  can  also  be  heard  in  some  parts  of  the  recording  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.  Influences  of  traditional  metal  and  70's  can  also  be  heard  on  some  of  the  tracks  as  well  as  some  of  the  songs  also  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length,  a  later  song  also  introduces  back  up  shouts  onto  the  album  and  as  the  album  progresses  a  brief  use  of  clean  playing  and  an  instrumental  can  also  be  heard.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  paranormal,  occultism,  mythology  and  historical  themes.


  In  my  opinion  Hexecutor  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  black,  death,  thrash  and  heavy  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Buried  Alive  With  Her  White  Silk  Dress"  "Belzebuth's  Apocryphal  Mark"  and  "Danse  Macabre".  8  out  of  10.

  Proscription  are  a  band  from  Finland  that  plays  a  blackened  form  of  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review    of  their  2020  album  "Conduit"  which  will  be  released  on  September  24th  by  Dark  Descent  Records.

  Dark  yet  ritualistic  sounding  synths  start  off  the  album  before  going  into  more  of  a  heavier  and  brutal  musical  direction.  Vocals  are  mostly  death  metal  growls  along  with  some  black  metal  screams  also  being  utilized  at  times  and  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  done  in  a  very  dark  yet  melodic  style  as  well  as  having  their  chaotic  moments  at  times  along  with  the  riffing  also  adding  in  some  melodies  at  times,  tremolo  picking  can  also  be  heard  in  some  of  the  faster  riffing.

  Proscription  plays  a  style  of  blackened  death  metal  that  is  very  dark  and  brutal  sounding  as  well  as  being  influenced  by  both  the  modern  and  old  school  style.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the lyrics  cover  Occultism  and  Dark Spirituality  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Proscription  are  a  very  great  sounding  blackened  death  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "The  Burning  Sun"  "Thy  Black  Nimbus  Gate"  and  "To  Reveal  the  Words  Without  Words".  8  out  of  10.

Walls Of Hate/Self Titled/2020 EP Review

  Walls  Of  Hate  are  a  solo  project  from  Honduras  that  plays  an  atmospheric  form  of  blackened death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  self  titled  and  self  released  2020  ep.

  A  very  fast  and  brutal  sound  starts  off  the  ep  along  with  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  while  the  vocals  bring  in  a  mixture  of  black  metal  screams  and  death  metal  growls.  The  riffs  also  add  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody  while  synths  can  also  be  heard  in  the  background  at  times.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  along  with  the  music  also  adding  in  a  decent  amount  of  90's  influences,  tremolo  picking  can  also  be  heard  in  some  of  the  faster  riffing  and  shouting  vocals  as  well  as  some  clean  playing  can  also  be  heard  briefly  on  the  closing  track.

  Walls  Of  Hate  plays  a  style  of  atmospheric  blackened  death  metal  that  is  very  heavily  rooted  in  their  early  90's  era.  The  production  sounds  very  old  school  while  the  lyrics  cover  anti  religion,  violence  and  historical  themes.

  In  my  opinion Walls  Of  Hate  are  a  very  great sounding  atmospheric  and  old  school blackened  death  metal  solo  project  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Involution"  and  "Legions  Of  Truth".  8  out  of  10.

Cult Burial Interview

1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?



Cult Burial is a studio project that started in early 2020.  It’s a mixture of black, doom, death and post-metal.  At times there are some progressive elements.  The band released a 2-track EP called ‘Sorrow’ in March 2020 and four months later there was a full album recorded, which is out in November 2020.   There’s Cesar providing vocals, myself on the instruments and Felipe providing some extra guitars.







2.So far you have released an ep and your first full length coming out in November, musically how do they both differ from each other?



One of the tracks from the EP is on the album (Sorrow) so musically it’s a similar sound, but the album goes to different places - there’s more blastbeats, there’s more growling, there’s screams, there’s guitar solos, there’s riffs, there’s fast sections and there’s slow sections. 







3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band has explored so far with the music?



Cult Burial’s themes are about the self, about the bleakness of self-loathing and the feelings of emptiness and nothingness that follow and how that is dealt with (and perhaps not dealing with it in the best way).







4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Cult Burial'?

It just sounded heavy.  I wanted a name that when you hear it, you immediately have a good idea what the music sounds like. 







5.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the new album cover?



I love the artwork for the release.  It’s been created by Legerdemain (www.lgrdmn.com) - his work is incredible and when I discovered him, I spent hours just browsing his website and admiring his work.  I was fortunate enough that he was able to make a design for the cover of the album. 







6.What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and also how would you describe your stage performance?



Cult Burial is a studio project, not a live one.  If there was one, I’d want full pyrotechnics, stage dancers, tigers on top of the amp cabinets and an elaborate 3D video display, all in your local 200 capacity metal venue.  It would be awesome.







7.Currently you are unsigned, are you looking for a label or have received any interest?



I’ve had some bad experiences with record labels in the past in other bands so I’m not really interested at the moment for Cult Burial.  I’m taking up the record label myself and I’m happier doing it that way - I prefer having control over what’s happening and the direction for the project across all areas.   I’m sure there’s some great labels out there, but there’s some shit ones too!





8.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of black, doom and death metal?



It’s early days, there’s only been two tracks released a few months back, but generally people seem to like the sound.  There’s been a couple of very early album reviews which have been really positive about the record so hopefully people are going to enjoy the album.







9.Are any of the band members currently involved with any other bands or musical projects these days?



Cesar’s main band is a technical metal band called Enblood (www.enblood.com), they are awesome, check them out!







10.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?



I’ve started on the second record and it’s going to be in a similar vein but pushing more the extremes of the first album - so it’s going to be heavier, faster, slower and softer all in the one record.





11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?



I find it hard to talk about inspiration or influence, as whatever comes out just comes out.  It’s not a conscious decision to make it sound a particular way, and if even if I wanted to, I probably couldn’t.  I like music with dark atmospheres, but I enjoy a Massive Attack album as much as I enjoy any heavy album.

Mynskh Interview

1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?

MYNSKH is an Extreme Metal Project from Europe. Rooted in Black/Death-Metal the music incorporates many different styles, ranging from classical music to Ambient. Interwoven with the music is an intricate story set in a very dark world that i created.

2.So far you have released one full length, can you tell us a little bit more about the musical style you went for on the recording?

I wrote the core material in 2013/14 while living in the south of the U.S. When i write, i dont really think until something catches my ear and my hands start repeating it. It poured out of me, song after song, and there i knew that this has to be MYNSKH. A project composed of this dark world i have imagined since years, combined with my interpretation of extreme-music.
When i came back to Europe i started working with my long-term friend and drummer, Chris Grabner on the material.
I came in contact with this viennese cellist, Matthias Bartolomey and he brought a new aspect to my music by adding an electric cello.
It worked so well that it became a main ingredient in the music of MYNSKH.

3.The band has been around since 2013 but so far have only put out one album, can you tell us a little bit more about it?

Well the recording/mixing process took a long time since there were a lot of puzzle-pieces. Learning to play the material live took us a year alone. I printed a few Demo-CDs in 2016 but i wanted to give it the release and the attention it deserves. I founded a label, made a few connections and after a lot of work we will now release the digital LP on September 18th. Physical album in January 2021. Last year we also re-recorded the bass with our new bass-player, re-mixed/re-mastered the entire thing and also made an instrumental-mix of the record. I was also putting out the last ARTAS record, which is my other band and that pretty much put MYNSKH on hold for an entire year.
Inbetween all that i started working on the second chapter and its now in the end-state of compositions/lyrics. So new music will come out sooner than anyone will expect.

4.The lyrics on the recording re a concept album, can you tell us a little bit more about the story you cover lyrically?

We follow a civilization and the eponymous city they built, breaking the laws and rules of the universe they live in. It is about reaching the very strange concept of perfection, about the downfall that comes afterwards and the return to a twisted form of primal urges. It would take too much time to go into the details, but lets put it like this:
as the story imagines such an alternate reality, it synonymously reflects upon our human existence, the development of consciousness, soul and life itself. And even if it doesnt seem so at the first glance, a lot of personal experiences and emotions are in there. Not consciously to be honest but no matter what you do artisticly, life always creeps into your art.
I also was/am sick and tired of the whole occult/satanic/reliogous-trend in this kind of music, not that i dont enjoy those topics but i think faith is something very personal. No book in the world can reflect that. No matter how old and mystic it is. I just rather see my deitis as i imagine them. So this whole story is inspired more by pessimistic philosophers, poetry, psychology and scientific-concepts, than the Devil and his mesopotamian compadres while still maintaining a mystic/spiritual undertone.

5.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Mynskh'?

It stems from a nightmare i had as a child. In this dream i saw a horrifying being, dragging its ever-changing body over an enormous, black city. The next day i woke up with the word "Minsk" in my head.
Many years later, after i started playing music in various bands, i remembered this moment and decided to call my solo-project that i was working on at that time, MYNSKH.

6.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the album cover?

When i came across the picture, created by Pierre Alain Durand, my inner voices were screaming and i knew that this creation had to be the cover for the first chapter.
Its abstract, its dark, its epic. It bears questions and answears alike. Its like an archeological piece one would find in this very world i create with my music.

7.Currently there are only 2 members in the band, are you open to expanding the line up or do you prefer to remain a duo?

As i already mentioned in another Interview, i see this project more as a collective than a band. There are many musicians involved in the creation of those albums and its impossible to have them in a band together. My drummer, Chris Grabner is an integral part of the core musicians, since he is the order to my chaos, takes care of production/engineering. But since over a year now, the core of the project is extended by bassist and webmaster M.
So at its core it is a three-piece right now that lays the foundation for all kinds of live-incarnations of MYNSKH.


8.The newer version of the album is going to be released on 'Atmaah Records', can you tell us a little bit more about this label?

Atmaah Records is my label that i founded to release my music. Beside MYNSKH i also released the third record of ARTAS, "Ora et Gomorrha".
It takes care of digital/phyisical distribution and merchandise.

9.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of black and death metal?

I dont know. Not a lot of people know about MYNSKH. We have to wait and see. Some will like it, some won´t.

10.When can we expect newer music and also where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

Chapter II is almost finished musically and lyrically. We will start the recording this winter and it will be released winter 2021 if all goes well.
I have a very clear picture of this project. It will be a trilogy. After that its done. "Obliterating Perfection" will probably the rawest of the three, while the second album will go even more progressive paths in terms of songwriting and arrangement. I am working with some terrific musicians already. Florian Magnus Maier, also known as Morean from Dark Fortress, finished orchestrations a few weeks ago, while the amazing Safa Heraghi is working on the female vocals.
Matthias Bartolomey already layed down some heavenly dissonant e-cello tracks. The third and final chapter will be a one-hour long track, exploring the ambient/hypnotic sides of music but i cant say alot about it yet, since its still just in my head.

11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

Too many to list them all. But the three major ones: Neurosis, Darkthrone, Mike Patton since those artists had a major impact on me.
These Days i listen to the last Septicflesh album a lot. The sound of the orchestra is just out of this world.

Insatanity Interview

1.Can you give us an update on what has been going on with the band since the recording and release of the new album?



Until time of the Pandemic, We have been working on the set list for touring we were planning to do for the album. Now since everything is shut down, We have begun also working on new material and on other planned projects.



2.Recently you have released a new album, musically how does it differ from the stuff you have released in the past?



The production. We finally have a release that we really love the sound. We have been working on getting to that point for some time. Jarrett did a great job and we enjoyed working with him.



3.This is also your first full length since 1996 and with the exceptions of a few ep's being released once every few years the band has been mostly silent, can you tell us a little bit more about what has been going on during that time span?



We were mostly doing shows and tours. We did US tours in 2005, 2007 with Zircon, 2010 and 2015 with NervoChaos. We also did a European tour with Bloodsoaked in 2014. We also did a Fests, March Metal Meltdown in 2002/2003, The Los Angeles Murderfest in 2005, Extreme Texas Metalfest in 2007, Hostile City Deathfest in 2009, and the Las Vegas Deathfest in 2017.



4.The band started out with a more traditional death metal style before evolving into blackened death metal, what was the decision behind going into this musical direction?



It was a gradual process, as we started to listen to more bands coming out. We added those influences into our written style.



5.A lot of your lyrics cover satanic and occult themes, can you tell us a little bit more about your interest in the dark arts?



There’s a lot of interesting stories and tales associated with the occult. I take what I read and create my own stories from them.



6.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Insatanity'?



Mark, the original singer and creator of the band, came up with the name. He wanted something to stand out and define want his lyrics and themes were about.



7.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the album cover?



It’s a representation of the ancient world, but we went with a style that would be more recognizable as ruins. The songs on the album are a collection of different eras of the bands, so we are paying homage to our past.



8.Originally the band was from Pennsylvania but now resides in Florida, what was the decision behind the move?



It was a personal decision, I got tired to the cold and snow, so I decided to move close to the beach, lol. Not much about music involved with it.



9.What are some of the best shows that the band has played over the years and also how would you describe your stage performance?



Every show play for our fans We appreciate. They keep us going, so I wouldn’t say one is better than the others. Our stage performance, We just come out and bring the aggression and groove. We enjoy bringing our music to everyone.



10.On the new album you also had done a Deicide cover, what was the decision behind doing your own version of one of their songs?



When Satan Rules His World was originally planned to be shared on our YouTube, but the final track we had planned for the album ending up having an issue. With us running tight with studio time, we decided to cut the song and include WARHW as well.



11.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of black and death metal?



It has been great. We have been hearing and receiving a lot of good reviews and comments.



12.What is going on with some of the other bands or musical projects these days that some of the band members are a part of?



With the touring shut down right now unfortunately. We have been writing, mostly for Insatanity but also putting in time on other projects and those may see releases by years end or the beginning of next year.



13.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?



We have some ideas planned for the next album but don’t plan to deviate to far from the way we write. We will always have new influences but are style of writing we have will still be is core.



14.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?



I can really answer that for myself. Bands that inspired me from the beginning to now is pretty vast but mainly consist of Bolt Thrower, Naplam Death, Unleashed, Emperor, and Behemoth.
