Dispatched/Promised Land/1998 EP Review

Dispatched where a band from Sweden that has had a few of their releases reviewed in this zine and on this recording they evolved into a more melodic black/death/ atmospheric doom metal band on this review and this is a review of their self released 1998 ep "Promised Land".

Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with some blast beats being utilized at times, while the keyboards bring a very dark and atmospheric sound to the music, as for the bass playing it has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that is coming out of the guitars.

Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast melodic black/death metal guitar riffs that utilize some influences from gothic and doom metal, while the lead guitars are very melodic sounding guitar solos and leads, as for the acoustic guitars when they are utilized they use finger picking to bring a dark gothic rock feeling to the music.

Vocasl are all high pitched screams that combine black metal with melodic death metal, while the lyrics cover dark themes, as for the production it has a very strong, heavy and dark sound to it.

In my opinion this was the best recording that Dispatched put out and if you are a fan of atmospheric melodic black/death/doom metal you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "A Griffin Banner" and "The Revealing". RECOMMENDED BUY.

Dispatched/Returned To Your Mind/1997 EP Review

Dispatched are a band from Sweden that has had one of their previous recordings reviewed in this zine that plays a very blackened form of doom/death metal with a melodic edge but evolved more into a melodic doom metal band with this release and this is a review of their self released 1997 ep "Returned To Your mind".

Drums range from slow to mid paced drumming with not much in the way of fast playing or blast beats, while the keyboards bring a very dark, a tmospheric and gothic sound to the music, as for the bass playing it has a very strong and powerful tone with heavy gothic riffing that dominates throughout the recording.

Rhythm guitars range from slow to mid paced melodic gothic doom metal riffing that is very melodic and utilizes some influences from both black and death metal with a brief use of soft and clean playing, while the lead guitars are very melodic sounding guitar solos and leads in the gothic doom/death traditon.

Vocals are a mixture of blackened death metal growls and screams as well as some clean singing, while the lyrics cover dark and depressive themes, as for the production it has a very strong and powerful sound where you can hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording.

In my opinion this is another great recording from Dispatched that is alot more atmospheric and melodic sounding than the previous recording, and if you are a fan of atmospheric melodic black/death doom metal, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Restless Mind" and "Hate My Life". RECOMMENDED BUY.
