Imprecation/In Nomine Diaboli/Dark Descent Records/2022 Full Length Review

 

  Texas's  Imprecation  has  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  more  of  a  satanic  form  of  blackened  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2022  album  "In  Nomine  Diaboli"  which  will b e  released  in  October  by  Dark  Descent  Records.

  A  very  dark  yet  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  album  while  evil  sounding  melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing.  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  also  bring  in  more  of  an  early  90''s  style  along  with  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  adding  in a  great  amount  of  blast  beats.

  Vocals  are  mostly  death  metal  growls  while  the  songs  also  add  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  Keyboards  can  also  be  heard  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording  and  also  gives  the  music  more  of  a  classic  horror  movie  atmosphere  along  with  the  music  also  adding  in  some  elements  of  black  metal  at  times  as  well  as  some  tracks  also  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  screams,  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  On  this  recording  Imprecation  remain  true  to  the  satanic  style  of  blackened  death  metal  that  they  established  on  previous  releases.  The  production  sounds  very  old  school  while  the  lyrics  cover  Satanism,  Occultism,  Demonology,  Blasphemy  and  Death  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Imprecation  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  satanic  blackened  death  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Reborn  In  Fire"  "Ars  Goetia"  "Devil's  Furnace"  and  "Stigmata  Wounds'.  8  out  of  10.

Imprecation/Damnatio Ad Bestias/Dark Desecent Records/2019 CD Review

  Imprecation  are  a  band  from  Texas  that  has  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  very  blasphemous  and  satanic  form  of  blackened  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2019  album  "Damnatio  Ad  Bestias"  which  will  be  released  in  March  by  Dark  Descent  Records.

  A  very  dark  and  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  horror  movie  style  keyboards  also  being  utilized  at  times.  Morbid  sounding  melodies  can  also  be  heard  in  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  while  the  solos  and  leads  are  done  in  a  very  early  90's  style  as  well  as  the  vocals  also  bringing  in a   great  amount  of  death  metal  growls.

  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  can  also  be  heard  while  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  Elements  of  doom/death  metal  can  also  be  heard  in  the  slower  sections  of  the  songs  as w ell  as  the  music  also  adding  in  some  black  metal  influences  at  times.

  At  times  the  music  also  gets  very  ritualistic  sounding  in  some  parts  of  the  recording  while  keeping  the  main  focus  more  on  a  heavier  style.  As  the  album  progresses  some  of  the  guitar  leads  also  start  incorporating  some  dark  sounding  melodies.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  old  school  while  the  lyrics  cover  Satanism,  Occultism  and  Blasphemy  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Imprecation  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  satanic  and  blasphemous  blackened  death  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Temple  Of  The  Foul  Spirit"  "Beasts  Of  The  Infernal  Void"  and  "Ageless  Ones  Of  None".  8  out  of  10.

Imprecation/Satanae Tenebris Infinita/Dark Descent Records/2013 CD Review

  Imprecation  are  a  band  from  Texas  that h as  a  history  that  goes  back  to  the  early  90's  with  a  musical  style  I  would  describe  as  being  atmospheric  satanic  blackened  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2013  comeback  album  "Satanae  Tenebris  Infinita"  which  was  released  by  Dark  Descent  Records.

  Drums  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  some  blast  beats  being  utilized  at  times,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  are  coming  out of  the  guitars,  as  for  the  synths  which  are  only  used  briefly  they  bring  a  very  dark  and  atmospheric  sound  to  the  recording  without  being  used  as  a  lead  instrument.

  Rhythm  guitars  range  from s low,  mid  paced  to  fast  old  school  blackened death  metal  riffs  that  are  very  heavy  and  dark  sounding  with  some  doom  metal  elements  being  thrown  into  the  riffing  as  well  as  some  evil  sounding  melodies,  while  the  lead  guitars are  very  old  school  sounding  death  metal  guitar  solos  and  leads.

  Vocals  are  mostly  deep  death  metal  growls,  while  the  lyrics  cover  Satanism  and  Blasphemous  themes,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  dark,  evil,  heavy  and  old  school  sound  to  it  that  brings  back  memories  of  the  early  90's.  

  In  my  opinion  Imprecation  are  a  very  great  sounding  old  school  blackened  death  metal  band  and if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "From  Beyond  The  Fiery  Temples"  "The  Coils  Of  Eden"  and  "Of  The  Black  Earth".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.
