Usud are a band from Croatia that plays an atmospheric form of blackened death metal and this is a review of their 2019 album "As Old As The Hills" which was released by Geenger Records.
Clean playing starts off the album before going into a heavier musical direction while the riffs also add in a decent amount of melody. Vocals are mostly death metal growls along with the faster sections of the songs also adding in a great amount of blast beats and black metal elements.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. Tremolo picking can also be hear d in some of the faster riffing, Black metal screams are also added into some parts of the recording as well as some clean playing also making a return on some of the later tracks.
A couple of the songs are also very long and epic in length as well as one track also adding in a small amount of classical guitars, all of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them, at times the music also gets very atmospheric sounding. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Occultism, Evil, Darkness and Fantasy themes.
In my opinion Usud are a very great sounding atmospheric blackened death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Possessed" "Throne Of Death" and "As Old As The Hills". 8 out of 10.
