Dismal Crux are a solo project from Spain that plays a blackened mixture of doom and heavy metal and this is a review of his self released 2023 album "The Hope of Things To Come" which will be released on August 11th.
A very dark, heavy and melodic sound starts off the album while elements of doom metal can also be heard in the slower sections of the songs. All of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them and the solos and leads are also done in more of a traditional metal style.
Clean playing can also b e heard on some of the tracks while the vocals are also done in a melodic style. Black metal screams are also a very huge part of the recording along with one track also introducing growls onto the album as well as some of the mid tempo riffing also showing an influence of thrash metal, sound s of torture can also be heard on the closing track.
Dismal Crux plays a musical style that takes black, doom and heavy metal and mixes them together to create a sound of his own. The production sounds very old school while the lyrics cove r Occultism and Dark Fantasy themes.
In my opinion Dismal Crux are a very great sounding blackened mixture of doom and heavy metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Fall Of The Watchers" "Scion Of the lords" and "Netzagh". 8 out of 10.
