Cryptae/Self Titled/Sentient Ruin Laboratories/2017 EP Review

  Cryptae  are  a  band  from t he  Netherlands  that  plays  an  avant  garde,  dissonant  and  experimental  mixture  of  black  and  death metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  titled  2017  demo  which  will  be  released  on December  21st  by  Sentient  Ruin  Laboratories.

  Drum  beats  along  with  some  noise  rock  elements  start  off  the  ep  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  before  going  into  a  very  fast  and  brutal  direction  which  also  uses  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  as  well  as  introducing  death  metal  growls  onto  the  recording.

  A  great  amount  of  black  metal  influences  can  also  be  heard  in  he  songs  along  with  a  few  screams  while  the  music  also  brings  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  influences  of  industrial  also  being  utilized  at  times  and  the music also  brings  in  a  lo-fi  atmosphere.

  Cryptae  plays  a  musical  style  that  is  mostly  rooted  in  dissonant  black  and death  metal  while the  experimental,  avant  garde,  industrial  and  noise  rock  elements  gives  the  songs  more  originality,  the  production  sounds  very  dark  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Cryptae  are  a  very  great  sounding  experimental,  dissonant  and  avant  garde  mixture  of  black  and  death  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Ventrum"  and  "Maze".  8  out  of  10.

Necrodancer/Void/Throatruiner Records/Lost Pilgrims Records/2018 CD Review

  Necrodancer  are  a  band  from  Belgium  that  plays  a  musical  style  they  describe  as  being  funeral  grunge  which  is  a  mixture  of  black  metal,  noise  rock  and  crust  punk  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  album  "Void"  which  will  be  released  in  2018  as  a  joint  effort  between  Throatruiner  and  Lost  Pilgrims  Records.

  A  very  dark  yet  melodic  punk  influenced  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  post  punk  style  synths  and  grim  black  metal  screams  while  crust  style  growls  are  also  utilized  at  times  and  when the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard.

  All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  while  the  music also  mixes  in  elements  of  grunge,  noise  rock  and  black'n'roll  while  some  songs  also  show  the  vocals  also  adding  in  more  of  a  hardcore  punk  approach  as  well  as  a  brief  use  of  semi  melodic  vocals  and  most  of  the  music  sticks  to  mostly  a  mid  tempo  style  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  Necrodancer  plays  a  musical  style  that  takes  black  metal,  noise  rock,  grunge  and  crust  punk and  mixes  them  together  to  create  something  original,  the  production  sounds  very  dark  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark  and  occult  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Necrodancer  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  black  metal,  crust  punk,  noise  rock  and  grunge  and  if  you  are  a  looking  for  something  very  original,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "The  Necrodancer"  "The  Turning"  "The  Inquisition"  and  "The  Battlefield".  8  out  of  10.

Untervoid/Self Titled/Osmose Productions/2018 EP Review

  Untervoid  are  a  duo  Form  Poland  that  plays  a  blackened  form  of  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  titled  ep  which will  be  released  in  2018  by  Osmose  Productions.

   A  very  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  ep  along  with  some  blast  beats  and  grim  grim  vocals  a  few  seconds  later  while  the  vocals  also  bring  in  a  mixture  death  metal  growls and  black  metal  screams  and  when  guitar  solos  and  leads  are utilized  they  are  done  in  a  very  distorted  yet  melodic  fashion.

  All  of   the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to them  while  the  songs  also  bring  in a   great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  some  clean  vocals  also  being  utilized  at  times  and  some  of the  riffing  also  adds  in  a  touch  of  black'n'roll  as  well  as  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  electronics  and  the  closing  track  is  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  also  brings  in  a  small amount  of  acoustic  guitars  and  avant  garde  elements.

  Untervoid  plays  a  musical  style  that  mixes  black  and  death  metal  together  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own,   the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Untervoid  are  a  very  great  sounding  blackened  death  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  Include  "Twilight"  and  "Inner  Shrine".  8  out  of  10.

Encrypted/The Purge/Star Spawn Society/2017 EP Review

  Encrypted  are  a  band  from  Germany  that  plays  a  blackened  form  of  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2017  ep  "The  Purge"  which  was  released  by  Star  Spawn  Society.

  Distorted amp  sounds  start  off  the  ep  before  going  into  a  very  fast  and  brutal  direction which  also  uses  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  and  morbid  sounding  melodies  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  deep  death  metal  growls  along  with  the  music  also  mixing  in  a  great  amount  of  black  metal  elements.

  Most  of  the  music  is  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  90's  while  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  elements  of  doom/death  metal  can  also  be  heard  in  the  slower  riffing  and  when  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  done  in  a  very  dark  yet  melodic  fashion,  a  couple  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

  Encrypted  plays  a  style  of  blackened  death  metal  that  is  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  early  90's  along  with  a  touch  of  doom  metal,  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  old  school  while  the  lyrics  cover  darkness  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Encrypted  are  a  very  great  sounding  blackened  death  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Doomed"  and  "Order  Of  Purity".  8  out  of  10.

Abhordium/Omega Prayer/2017 Full Length Review

  Abhordium  are  a  band  from  Finland  that  plays  a  blackened  form  of  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2017 album  "Omega  Prayer".

  A  very  dark  and  avant  garde  sound  starts  off t he  album  before  going  into  more  of  a  heavier  direction  while t he  faster  sections  of t he  songs  also  bring  in a   great  amount  of  brutal  blast  beats  along  with  the  vocals  also  bringing  in a   mixture  of  death  metal  growls  and  black  metal  screams.

  A  decent  amount  of  dark  sounding  melodies  can  be  heard  in  the  guitar  riffing  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  while  the  songs  also  bring  in a   great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  melodic  chants  can  also  be  heard  briefly, when  guitar  leads  are  utilized  they  are  done  in  a  very  yet  melodic  fashion  and  atmospheric  synths  and  clean  guitars  can  also  be  heard  on  a  few  tracks  as  the  album  progresses. 

  Abhordium  plays  a  musical  style  that  takes  black  metal  and  mixes  it  with  brutal  death  metal  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  for  being  a  self  released  recording  while  the  lyrics  cover  death,  misanthropy,  human  conflicts,  chaos,  damnation,  rituals  and  dark  arts  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Abhordium  are  a  very  great  sounding  blackened  death  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Challenged  Be  My  Hate"  "Obsidian  Chamber"  "Dreary  Touch  Of  The  Void"  and  "Omega  Prayer".  8  out  of  10.

Perpetrator/Altered Beast/Caverna Abismal/2018 CD Review

  Perpetrator  are  a  band  from  Portugal  that  plays  a  blackened  form of  thrash  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  album  "Altered  beast"  which  will  be  released  in  2018  by  Caverna  Abismal.

  Ritualistic  soundscapes  start  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  very  heavy  German  influenced  thrash  metal  style  while  the  solos  and  leads  are  done  in  a  very  old  school  yet  melodic  style  while  the  vocals  also  bring  in  an  aggressive  thrash  style  of  vocals  and  the  music  also  brings  in  elements  of  fist  wave  black  metal.

  Back  up  gang  shouts  can  also  be  heard  at times  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  while the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  even  though  the  music  is  rooted  in  the  90's  it  still  maintains  a  very  modern  day  aggression.

  As  the  album  progresses  acoustic  guitars  can  also  be  heard  briefly  while  touches  of  death  metal  can  also  be  heard  at  times  and one  track  also  brings  in  a  track  that  has  a  ritualistic  touch  as  well  as  a  small  amount  of  spoken  word  parts  and  some  tracks  also  add  in  power  metal  style  screams.

  Perpetrator  plays  a  musical  style  that  is  equally  influenced  by  both  the  bay  Area  and  Teutonic  styles  of  thrash  metal  while  also  mixing  in  the  aggression  of  modern  blackened  thrash  and  a  touch  of  death  metal  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  nuclear  war,  metal,  society,  and  psychological  strife  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Perpetrator  are  a  very  great  sounding  blackened  thrash  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Altar  Of  The  Skull"  "Fires  Of  Sacrifice"  "Jungle  War"  and  "Hell  Thrasher".  8  out  of  10.

  Dreadful  Fate  are  a  band  from  Sweden  that  plays  a  mixture  of  black,  death  and  thrash  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2017  ep "The  Sin  Of  Sodom"  which  will  be  released  in  December  by  Edged  Circle  Productions.

  A  very  heavy  and  fast  thrash  metal  sound  starts  off  the  ep  along  with  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  while  the  vocals  are  mostyl  grim  black  metal  screams  while  the  music  also  mixes  in  influences  from  the  first  wave  of  the  previous  mentioned  genre  as  well  as  all  of the  musical  instruments  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  remain  true  to  an  old  school  extreme  metal  style  along  with  the  songs  also  bringing  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  while  the  music  has  its  roots  in  the  80's  it  still  brings  in  a  very  modern  atmosphere  and  they  also  bring  in  a  cover  of  Kreator's  "Tormentor".

  Dreadful  Fate  plays  a  musical  style  that  takes  the  old  school  styles  of  black,  death  and  thrash  metal  and  update  them  for  the  modern  era,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark  and  blasphemous  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Dreadful  Fate  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  black, death,  and  thrash  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Unholy  Lust".  8  out  of  10.
