Aufbrunch are a band from Italy that plays a blackened form of death metal and this is a review of their self released 2018 album "Blasting the Void".
Dark soundscapes start off the album along with some spoken word samples a few seconds later before going into a heavier direction while the vocals are a mixture of black metal screams and death metal growls as well as a couple of the tracks being very long and epic in length.
When the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can also be heard while the solos and leads are done in a very dark and melodic style along with the riffs also adding in some melody and dissonant structures as well as using tremolo picking in some parts of the tracks and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and as the album progresses a brief use of clean playing can be heard.
Aufbrunch plays a musical style that takes both the old school and modern eras of black and death metal and mixes them together to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very professional for being a self released recording while the lyrics cover society, humanity, corruption, revolution and inner thought themes.
In my opinion Aufbrunch are a very great sounding blackened death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Breeding Pestilence" "Branches Of Doom" and "Blasting the VOid". 8 out of 10.
