+Mrome+ Interview

1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?

We do not really have a spectacular story. We started the band as teenagers in 1995, but we failed to keep it alive. We were very young people and there was no consistent vision behind it, we had different backgrounds, personally and musically, we ware just school friends. We played a couple of local gigs, recorded 3 demos and everything was done soon. Average! In 2009 I revived the band as a solo project but soon the original drummer P. wanted to join in and we recorded our debut album "Noetic Collision on the Roof of Hell" as a duo.
+MROME+ is entirely a studio project focused on creative process and concepts behind music and lyrics. We are not a touring band. We are not interested in promoting band members by photos and social media. We can easily say that music, lyrics and artwork design speak everything about us. The only principle is that every new recording is a new start for us, a new stage. We want to keep it as distinct and diverse as possible

2.How would you describe your musical sound?

Maybe dark thrash? ...or post-something? It's fashionable now. I don't know. I am old-fashioned, sorry. We started as black metal wannabes but I absolutely don't identify +MROME+ with this "movement" actually. I respect a kind of singular signature in music and "fuck off attitude"represented by pioneers. I felt inspired by it in my teenage years but soon realized that most of underground metal myths are just misinterpretations and pranks of spoiled rich kids. We don't care how people categorize it. Roots are in metal. I'd like to believe we can do a good song too. Trying to be like old heavy/thrash metal classics You can keep in mind and heart. I am old-fashioned definetely.

3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the music?

Love to god mostly... And a little disappointment when he doesn't return your love. Love is the key to everything.

4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name +Mrome+'?

It's very difficult for me to explain it in english. It's neologism. The state of total passivity and lack of hope. High end of moral and ethical depravation when You don't even want to fuck and reproduce. The way empires fall. But there is a spark of acceptance in it. A solace that everything is coming to an end.

5.Currently there are only 2 members in the band, are you open to expanding your line up or do you prefer to remain a duo?

There are not many people who can play in this band. I wanted to do it on my own but P. wanted to join. Yeah cool! Lets have a good fight again buddy! We are not very social people so we decided to work as a duo but then our old bass player wanted to return to queen bee's cell. Unintentionally we have almost original line-up from 90's (the second guitarist is not in music anymore). Our bass player is less offensive person than me an P. so he makes sure that we do not kill each other. As a trio we sound better at rehearsals and I do not have to record bass guitar anymore! Profits only!

6.On the album you had also done a cover of Danzig's "How The Gods Kill", what was the decision behind doing your own version of this song?

I love Danzig, P. loves Danzig. We do Danzig. This song has a special authentic vibe, it's dramatic but not pompous. We played it our own way to make it fit to our songs better.

7.The new is coming out on 'EEE Recordings', can you tell us a little bit more about this label?

EEE Recordings comes from Denver, Colorado. It's a label of E., the man behind total crazy experimental band Njiqahdda (and many other projects too). I love their album "Serpents in the Sky". When I was sending our promo stuff I came across a kind of statement on his label's bandcamp page "Oppose the underground, oppose the mainstream... suport yourself". It impressed me. That's the way we do things indeed. We are devoted to music and independent attitude. We love DIY-way-of-thinking.
I sent him our album and he liked it. He offered straight and clear conditions, no promises without coverage, no pay-for-publishing bullshit like many labels do today! What kind of bands accept it at all? Communication is great and the official CD release date is 28th April 2018. Pre-order starts up on March 18th. Cassettes in Summer probably.

8.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of extreme metal?

Time will tell. We have very positive feedback from underground metal zines, but we are not interested is social media to give people possibility to react. And we won't have it. Anyway we are not very extreme act I think. +MROME+ is rather chill out music in standards of extreme metal today. At all events we have no plans to conquer the world. We have jobs.

9.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

As I said earlier we don't want to be recurrent. To be honest the naxt album is almost done and it's a different thing. It will be called "Roi-de-Rats" and it's more thrash metal oriented with a post-punk touch. Still dark anyway. We are already working on the third one at rehearsals. The darkest one probably. I've got ideas for 5 albums including "Noetic". If we still want to make it after these 5 albums we will start up a new irrational chapter, if not - we will finish gently.

10.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays.

There are many. Classics like Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Danzig, Slayer, Voivod, Metallica, Sepultura, Morbid Angel, polish Kat are common for us both. Our roots. Speaking for myself that was first and second wave black metal like Bathory, Celtic Frost, Samael as well... Burzum is one of soundtracks to my life. Not much time for listening to music right now. I need it to arrange and produce +MROME+'s music first of all but If I only can clean my mind then I choose magnificent David Bowie, Amebix, Killing Joke, rustic mess by french Pest Noire is great. P. likes more technical/progressive music sometimes too which I really hate.

11.What are some of your non musical interests?

We are not interested in promoting band members. We are just dudes doing songs.

Barbarian Prophecies/Origin/Base Record Production/Hecatombe Records/2018 CD Review

  Barbarian  Prophecies  are  a  band  from  Spain  that  plays  a  blackened  form  of  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2018  album  "Origin"  which  will  be  released  on  March  26th  as  a  joint  effort  between  Base  Record  Production  and  Hecatombe  Records.

   Acoustic  guitar playing  starts  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction  while  all  of the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  the  vocals  being  mostly  death  metal  growls  as  well  as  some  screams  that  also  add  in  a  touch  of  black  metal  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  can  be  heard.

  A  small  amount  of  dark  sounding  melodies  can  also  be  heard  in  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  while  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  the  solos  and  leads  bringing  in  more  of  an  old  school  death  metal  style  and  some  of  the  tracks  are  long  and  epic  in  length.

  Acoustic  guitars  also  making  a  return  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording  as  the  album  progresses  while  atmospheric  synths  can  also be  heard  briefly  before  returning  back  to a   brutal  direction  along  with  some  songs  also  bringing  in  elements  of  thrash  and  they  also  bring  in  an  acoustic  instrumental.


  Barbarian  Prophecies  plays  a  style  of  blackened  death  metal  that  is  very  heavy  and  brutal  while  also  bringing  in  elements  of  thrash  at  times,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  metaphysical,  death,  war  and  chaos  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Barbarian  Prophecies  are  a  very  great  sounding  blackened  death  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Multiple"  "Reincarnation"  "Fourth  Dimension"  and  "Remember  The  Fallen  XVII".  8  out  of  10.

Judaswiege Interview

1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the musical project?
Well, Judaswiege was born a year and a half away. We are only two members, Reverend Dis is the man behind vocals and lyrics and Obszen, who wrote and play all the music.
We both have our respective bands, Reverend Dis in Dis Gob and Obszen in Bizarre, so Judaswiege was created as a side project to cover all our music influences that have no place in the other bands. Over time we expect the band to grow inside the underground metal scene.

2.So far you have released one ep, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on the recording?
Our sound is a little mess mixing different metal styles as Speed, Thrash, Heavy, Black or Death Metal with a raw sound. But mostly we can be labeled as a Black/Thrash band, if you want to put some label of course! We play extreme music and we know what signs of identity we have and want.

3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects you explore on the ep?
The main theme on the lyrics is the Spanish Inquisition and the atrocities they committed along the middle age. The Ep is some kind of history which explains how the Inquisition accuse an innocent man to be an heretic for not living by their rules, and then how that man confess under torture and finally is executed.
The inquisition today is the society itself. They judge without knowing anything about us.

4.I know that the bands name means 'The Cradle of Judas' in German, how does this name fit in with the musical style that you play?
Well, the cradle of Judas was a torture instrument of the Inquisition, so it fits perfectly with our Ep. Talking about our music, I think that fits very well. The Inquisition or violence and atrocities in general are a very common themes in metal bands, especially in Black Metal bands. Any negative facet of the human being fits with our music.

5.Currently there are only 2 members in the band, are you open to expanding the line up or do you prefer to remain a duo?
I’m not thinking about it, the actual situation is ok for me, but is true that we talked about counting with a session musician behind the drums when we’ll record the next album. And for now, there are no plans to play live. With our other bands we play live and at the moment we don't have much time. Even so, we would never say no to anything that makes the band grow positively.

6.So far the ep has been released through both 'Base Records' and 'Godz Of War Productions', are you happy with the support both of these labels have given yo so far?
Of course we are! Both labels believed in us at the first listening. Indeed, Greg from Godz Ov War offered us to release Ashes of the Heretic on tape format after he listened only one song. They made a great job and we thank them their support very much. That two labels believe in you is always a good sign and encourages us to continue working the same.

7.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of black, death, thrash and speed metal?
Very good, I’ve never heard or read any bad feedback or review, and that’s great, it motivate us to work harder for our next record. It's great that webzines from different countries in different languages ​​have kindly listened to our EP.

8.What is going on with some of the other bands or musical projects these days that some of the band members are a part of?
Bizarre and Dis Gob are our main bands and they have all the priority. Nowadays we are writing and rehearsing the new songs for the upcoming Bizarre album, which we hope will be released late this year. DIS GOB has finished its second full-length. It will be available soon.

9.When can we expect a full length and also where do you see the band heading into musically during the future/
We are writing and recording new songs and a full length is our next step. Indeed we have a bunch of riffs written and recorded as a demo, but as I said, the other bands have all the priority, so I’m not thinking about recording new stuff until the new Bizarre album is out. But of course, new riffs and ideas are coming always to my mind. The machine never stop. When we get into Judaswiege mode there is nothing else in that moment.

10.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

Obszen: I think that the first Sodom or Kreator and Black Metal bands as Darkthrone and the masters Mötorhead are our biggest influences.
Nowadays I’m listening the same than 15 years before hahahaha. That means, extreme metal, garage rock, Crust, Punk and some cool Blues bands.

Reverend Dis: Over the years I have a less open mind. I only listen Black Metal, dedicating less time to the rest of styles as the years go by. Finally I'm wearing a tailored suit, hahaha.

11.Does Satanism or Occultism play any role in your music?
Obszen: I’m not a Satanist, that’s for sure, and I’m not interested in occultism in the strictest sense, but I love the work from writers as H.P. Lovecraft, Clive Barker or Edgar Allan Poe and some B series terror movies. You can see some anti-Christian symbols in our Ep, well, it’s not about Satanism but anti-Catholicism. I think that the Catholic church is the biggest sect in the world. They twisted and perverted all the faith and dogmas that they are supposed to defend. They spread the word by fear, ironically they are corrupted by creed, egoism, etc.

Reverend Dis: I think most of the population is Satanist but they do not know it. Your only god is you but you may not know it yet. Occultism and Satanism help each person to show the best of theirself. Satanism is necessary.

12.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?
Obszen: I’ll repeat the same I say in every interview. Support music buying music, merchandise, going to shows and the most important, support your local scene, not only the biggest bands. Thank you very much for this interview and Stay metal!!!

Summon/Parazv II Zilittv/Iron Bonehead Productions/2018 CD Review

  Summon  are  a  band  from  Portugal  that  plays  a  mixture  of  black,  doom  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2018  album  "Parazv  II  Zilittv"  which  will  be  released  in  April  by  Iron  Bonehead  Productions.

  Dark  yet  ritualistic  soundscapes  start  off  the  album  along  with  some  occult  style  chanting  before  going  into  more  of  a  heavier  direction  along  with  some  death  metal  growls  a  few  seconds  later  before  going  into  a  very  fast  direction  which  also  uses  a  great  amount  of  brutal  blast  beats.

  Elements  of  doom metal  can  also  be  heard  in  the  slower  sections  of  the  songs  while  the  music  also  brings  in  black  metal  screams  and  influences  in  some  parts  of  the  tracks  along  with  a  couple  of  the  songs  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length  as  well   as the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  bringing  in  a  decent  amount  of  tremolo  picking,

 The  riffs  also  bring  in  a  great  amount  of  dark  sounding  melodies  while  the  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized   are  also  done  in  a  very  dark  fashion  and  as  the  album  progresses  synths  can  also be  heard  briefly   along  with  some  of t he  songs  also bringing  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  the  vocals  are  mostly  done  in  an  evil  occult  whispering  style.

  Summon  plays  a  musical  style  that  takes  black,  doom  and  death  metal  and  mixes  them  in  with  a  ritualistic  sound  to  create  something  very  different, the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  heavy  while  the lyrics  cover  sepulchral  magick  and  death  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Summon  are  a  very  great  sounding  ritualistic  mixture  of black,  doom  and  death  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band. RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Whisper  of  The  Black  Moon"  "Shapes  Of  Darkness  Transcending"  and  "In  Odorem  Mortis".  8/5  out  of  10.

  +Mrome+  are  a  band  from  Poland  that  plays  a  mixture  of  black,  death  and  thrash  metal  with  some  touches  of  goth  rock  and  doom  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2018  album  "Noetic  Collision  On  The  Roof  of  Hell"  which  will  be  released  in  Spring  by  EEE  Recordings.

  Dark  yet  heavy  riffing  starts  off  the  album  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to them  while  the  vocals  bring  in  a  mixture  of  grim  black  metal  screams  and  death  metal  growls  along  with  the  solos  and  leads  also  being  done  in  a  very  melodic  fashion.

  A  decent  amount  of  melody  can  be  heard  in  the  guitar  riffing  along  with  the  music  also  bringing  in  a  great  amount  of  thrash  elements  in  both  the  riffs  and  vocals  while  the  slower  sections  of  the  songs  are  very  heavily  influenced  by  doom  metal  and  they  also  bring  in  a  cover  of  Danzig's  "How  The  Gods  Kill"  which  also  adds  in  a  slight  goth  metal  touch  and  when  the  music  finally  speeds  up  a  small  amount  of  blast  beats  can  be  heard,  as  well  as  a  brief  use  of  keyboards  and  one  track  also  brings  in  a  small  amount  of  spoken  word  part.

  +Mrome+ plays  a  musical  style  that takes  black, death  and  thrash  metal  along  with  some  goth  and  doom  metal  elements  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own,  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  cover  political,  philosophical,  occult  and  anti  religion  themes.

Altars Of Grief/Iris/Hypnotic Dirge Records/2018 CD Review

  Altars  Of  Grief  are  a  band  from  Regina,  Saskatchewan  that  plays  a  mixture  of  black  and  funeral  doom  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2018  album  "Iris"  which  will  be  released  on  March  21st  by  Hypnotic  Dirge  Records.

  Stringed  instruments  start  off  the  album  along  with  some  drum  beats  and  clean  playing  a  few  seconds  later  which  also  mixes  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs  along  with  some  melodic  singing  being  used  at  times  as  well  as  the  music  capturing  the  heaviness  of  funeral  doom  metal.

  Altars  of  Grief  plays  a  musical  style  that  takes  atmospheric  black  metal  and  mixes  it  with  funeral  doom  metal  to  create  a  sound  of  there  own,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  depression,  failure,  emptiness,  and  death  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Altars  of  Grief  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  black  and  funeral  doom  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Desolation"  "Broken  Hymn"  and  "Becoming  Intangible".  8  out  of  10.

Wild Hunt/Afterdream Of The Reveller/Vendetta Records/2018 CD Review

Wild  Hunt  are  a  band  from  Oakland,  California  that  plays  a  progressive  and  atmospheric  mixture  of  post  black  and  doom  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2018  album  "Afterdream  Of  The  Reveller"  which  will  be  released  in  April  by  Vendetta  Records.

  Atmospheric  synths  start  off  the  album  while  spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard  briefly  before  going  into a   heavier  direction  which  also  introduces  black  metal  screams  onto  the recording  along  with  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  bringing  in  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats.

  At  times  the  music  gets  very  progressive  and  technical  along  with  some  touches  of  death  metal  in  the  riffs  and  growls  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  as  well  as  some  clean  vocals  also  being  added  into  certain  sections  of  the  recording.

  Most  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  while  the guitar  solos  and  leads  when  they  are  utilized  they  are  done  in  a  very  melodic  fashion  along  with  some  songs  also  bring  in  a  small  amount  of  acoustic  guitars  as  well  as  some  of  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  small  amount  of  tremolo  picking.

  Wild  Hunt  plays  a  musical  style  that  takes  atmospheric  and  post  black  metal  and  mixes  it  with  progressive  doom  metal  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  abstract,  science  and  magick  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Wild  Hunt  are  a  very  great  sounding  progressive  and  atmospheric  mixture  of  post  black  and  doom  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "At  Once  The  Vision  And  The  Seer"  "Choir  of  A  Greater  Sea"  and  "Palingenesia".  8  out  of  10.
