Phyrexia are a band from the United Kingdom that plays a very epic and atmospheric form of black/death metal and this is a review of their self released 2010 ep "Epic World Annihilation".
Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with some blast beats being utilized at times, while the keyboards bring a very dark, atmospheric, epic and symphonic sound to the recording, as for the bass playing it has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that are coming out of the guitars.
Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast blackened death metal riffs that utilize some dark sounding melodies in the riffing, while the lead guitars are very melodic sounding guitar solos and leads that have a power metal feeling to them, as for the classical guitars which are only utilized briefly on the last song use finger picking to add more epic qualities to the music.
Vocals range from high pitched black metal screams to deep death metal growls, while the lyrics cover dark themes, as for the production it has a very strong, powerful, heavy and dark sound for being a self released recording.
In my opinion Phrexia are a very great sounding epic hybrid of black and death metal and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Bloodfire Collossus". RECOMMENDED BUY.
