Arcania Coelestia are a band from Italy that plays a mixture of black metal and atmospheric funeral doom and this is a review of their 2014 album "Nomas" which will be released on October 20th by Avantgarde Music.
A very slow, dark, atmospheric and heavy funeral doom metal sound starts off the album along with some melodic guitar leads and a few seconds later death metal growls are added onto the recording along with some black metal screams being utilized at times and after awhile the band starts bringing in a good mixture of both slow and mid paced parts.
When clean singing is utilized they bring in some elements of gothic metal to the bands musical style and the band also alternates between more atmospheric ambient parts and heavy parts as well as mixing the two together at times and all 5 of the tracks are very long and epic in length and as the album progresses whispers can be heard in certain sections of the recording.
On one of the tracks acoustic guitars are added onto the recording and they add a more progressive edge to the bands musical sound while the main focus remains more on the heavy and atmospheric side of things and one of the alter tracks shows the music adding in more fast black metal elements along with a small amount of blast beats
Arcania Coelestia sticks to mostly an atmospheric funeral doom metal sound on this recording while black metal is still a very huge part of their musical style as well as adding in a few progressive and avant garde elements which also gives their sound more originality, the production sounds very dark, heavy and powerful while the lyrics cover Occultism and Alchemy themes.
In my opinion Arcania Coelistia are a very great sounding mixture of black metal an atmospheric funeral doom and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Nomas II" and "Nomas iv". 8 out of 10.
