Serotonin are a duo from the Netherlands that has been featured before in this zine and on this recording expands on their blackened death metal style by adding in elements of industrial and thrash and this is a review of their self released 2018 ep "Stele".
A very dark and distorted sound starts off the ep before going into some fast riffs that also use a great amount of tremolo picking while blast beats are added onto the recording a few seconds alter as well as some grim black metal screams and all of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them.
A decent amount of melody can also be heard in the guitar riffing while the vocals also use a great amount of death metal growls and clean singing is also heard briefly along with the tracks also bringing in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts as well as some songs also mixing in elements of industrial and thrash and also getting very progressive at technical at times, melodic guitar leads can also be heard briefly and on the closing track a small amount of acoustic guitars can be heard.
On this recording Serotonin expand on their blackened death metal style by adding in elements of industrial and thrash, the production sounds very powerful for being a self released recording while the lyrics cover philosophical themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Serotonin and if you are a fan of blackened death metal, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The City In The Sand" and "Ict Grim Monoliths". 8 out of 10.
