W.A.I.L are a band from Finland that plays an eclectic mixture of black, doom and death metal and this is a review of their 2018 album "Wisdom Through Agony Into Illumination And Lunacy Vol. II' which will be released in May by Triumphant Transgressions.
Atmospheric soundscapes along with some drum beats start off the album while synths can also be heard at times along the slow heavy riffs are heavily rooted in doom metal as w ell as the vocals being a mixture of death metal growls and black metal s creams and both of the tracks are very long and epic in length.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very dark yet melodic fashion while all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them along with the faster sections of the songs also bringing in a decent amount of blast beats as well as both of the tracks also bringing in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
Clean playing and acoustic guitars can also be heard in certain sections of the recording the the grand piano's, kantele's, recorder's, percussion's, violin's and didgeridoo's when are utilized they give the music more of an experimental and avant garde feeling and spoken word parts can also be heard on the second track.
W.A.I.L plays a musical style that takes black, doom and death metal and mixes them with experimental and avant garde to create something very original, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover philosophical and occultism themes.
In my opinion W.A.I.L are a very great sounding eclectic mixture of black, doom and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Through Will To Exaltation Whence Descent Into Bottomless Abyss". 8 out of 10.
