Barbarian are a band from Italy that plays a mixture of black, thrash and speed metal and this is a review of their 2019 album "To No God Shall I Kneel" which will be released on June 7th by Hells Headbangers.
Fire burning sounds start off the album along with some grim black metal screams a few seconds later before going into a heavier direction which also mixes the first wave style with thrash and while the music is very heavily rooted in the 80's it still captures a very modern sound.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they remain very true to an old school style of extreme metal as well as having their melodic moments. All of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them along with the music also mix in elements of speed and traditional metal into some parts of the recording.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with some melodic chants also being used at times and the riffs also add in a decent amount of melody. The album also closes with a couple of tracks that are very long and epic in length and clean vocals are also added onto the closing song. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover metal, death and darkness themes.
In my opinion Barbarian are a very great sounding mixture of black, thrash, speed and traditional metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Obtuse Metal" "Sheep Shall Obey" and "To No God Shall I Kneel". 8 out of 10.
